Barragem de Odivelas, Apartado 17, 7920-999, Alvito
Been here?
Camping Markadia is an all-year campsite on a 25 acre peninsula beside the Odivelas reservoir, with shaded pitches and a peaceful natural setting. The lake offers windsurfing, paddleboarding, canoeing and swimming, while restaurants and a shop are on site. Access is bumpy, pitches can be very uneven, and the facilities are clean but somewhat dated. Showers are spacious, though water pressure is low and hot water is unreliable.

Wonderful atmosphere, pleasant and with a beautiful landscape. Perfect place to relax. The electrical outlets require a very long extension cord. Spacious showers, but with low pressure, and the hot water does not always work.
Bumpy approach. But a very quiet campsite focused on relaxation. Pitches can be chosen freely, but are also extremely uneven; it took me an hour to find the right one. Friendly, uncomplicated reception. The restaurant does not offer much and has strange opening hours.
Campsite with lots of shade beside the water. The most important thing for me was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. They were always immaculate. The showers are very good, with hot water and pleasant, non-timed operation. We had a problem with inconsiderate neighbors who made a lot of noise, but even after 1 a.m. the campsite manager went there to tell them they could not make noise.
Very good. Very quiet, shady, with immaculate toilets. Swimming in the reservoir, pedal boating, etc.
I was here with my motorcycle and tent. What can I say? Simply WOW... Super beautiful. I experienced a wonderful sunset and sunrise, could swim in the lake and then enjoy a hot shower. I will definitely come back, this time with the motorhome. Top site!
relax and quiet spot in Alentejo. we came for one night and decided to stay another. our 5 year old really enjoyed the camping, watching the birds and the rabbits. very friendly staff. (there is no pool in the park, it belongs to the houses available for renting).
Very quiet place, in natural reserve. Lovely sunset.
The location of this site is really wonderful and the staff is friendly. Toilets and showers are tidy. But somehow the atmosphere does not feel right: Too many long stay caravans that are unoccupied, and facilities that are in need of a thorough renovation make this campsite feel a bit uncomfortable. This wonderful location deserves better: it is in need of a total transformation.
Just to point out that it is not a lake, but artificially stagnant water created by the dam, reservoir or power plant. Reservoirs or power plants have always been an environmental disaster because of stagnant water and the consequent formation of bacteria, which affect river life, as well as disrupting the migration of river wildlife.
Great campsite for relaxing. Not easy to reach, but a wonderful place to unwind. Restaurant and shop on site.
A very beautiful place with a great view of the lake. Very clean and quiet!!! We cannot understand the previous reviews at all, as it is strictly forbidden to let dogs run free. No one can do anything about ticks—it is nature—and we have not seen any yet. We will definitely return. The most beautiful and quietest place ever.
Clean, beautiful campsite on the shore of a lake. Expensive. Lots of rabbits and ticks. We did not use the service building or restaurant. On weekends, loud disco music from a nearby bar continued through the night and all day. Large dogs run loose outside the campsite. The factory smells.
We came for peace and quiet, and that is what we got. Beautiful grounds with very large pitches. The sanitary facilities are past their prime, but everything is kept very clean. We stayed here for four days.
Stayed here for 4 nights in Jan. 2026, paid 25Euro/night with ACSI discount. Site is good, facilities old but clean, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful surroundings. Would come again!
Exceptional; there are no other words. Magnificent, quiet, shaded spot with a bar and restaurant, a little expensive but very convenient. Rabbits, owls, cicadas and songbirds. Top-notch. Almost deserted in the off-season and during the week. There must be about twenty of us where there are 400 pitches. The only negative point is lots of annoying flies during the day.
We arrived on Friday, October 3, but it is such an oasis of peace, with wonderful temperatures and a brilliant view, that we decided to stay two days longer. Lovely restaurant/snack bar at the campsite. The owners are Dutch, but unfortunately we have not yet met or seen them. The lady at reception is super friendly and helpful. The sanitary facilities are outdated but cleaned every day.
We have just arrived in a little paradise. View of the lake. Beautiful. We have not visited the restaurant yet. Sanitary facilities are good and clean. We are staying for two nights.
Very lovely and calm place. Bathrooms are clean and spacious! And they include toilet paper as well. Campers have to camp away from each other to keep a high privacy. The lake is beautiful, offering all kind of activities around it, with a nice restaurant overlooking it. The only downside is that the supermarket opens only 2 hours every day.
Note: there is no swimming pool... a little run-down. What a shame, it is a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing place, but expensive for what it offers: €32.
Very good, lots of shade, next to the dam. Very clean and well-maintained toilets, spread throughout the park. Mini-markets with good prices. Motorhome, 3 people, 1 dog (free) and no electricity: €35 per night in August.
Great campsite, very pleasant staff. Very quiet place, pitches spaced apart, many clean sanitary facilities, hot water (even if not necessary). Easy access to the lake and swimming possible in various places. Very beautiful landscape and good company (from rabbits). We spent 2 wonderful, very refreshing nights here as a family!
Nature and peace at their purest. That is how we experienced this place. Sanitary facilities were impeccable. We felt very comfortable here.
I would describe this campsite as one of the best for nature lovers in Portugal. Its location right by the lake is exactly why we love camping. Sanitary facilities are clean. Very nice; everyone may choose where to park, but must keep 10 m from their neighbour. The restaurant on site was a bitter disappointment apart from the pizza for the children, hence one star deducted.
Wonderful place, right by the lake, magnificent views, absolute peace and relaxation. Sanitary facilities outdated but clean, hot showers. Very nice lady at reception. We are now sad that we did not stay longer.
Beautiful campsite directly beside a very lovely reservoir. In the high season we had free choice of pitches. A minimum distance of 10 metres from neighbours is enforced. Very good. Sanitary facilities old but clean. If you are looking for absolute peace and quiet, this is the place.
We were passing through and stayed only one night, but would have liked to stay longer to enjoy the reservoir and the peace. Everything was clean, although not modern. There is soap and toilet paper in the toilets. Sun loungers and parasols are available at the beach. The restaurant on site is open until 7 p.m.; the food is okay, not outstanding. There is a second restaurant at the dam, but we did not visit it.
This is a really great place to stay in an area that doesn’t really have anywhere else to go! The pitches are 10m apart so lovely space between other people and not crammed in. All have shade from trees and lovely spots alongside the lake. Facilities all super clean, lovely calm atmosphere.
