1 Braunsbergstraße, 2410, Hainburg an der Donau
Been here?
This is a quiet grassy place with a table and trashcan beside a viewpoint and near the town centre and castle. However, camping is prohibited at this location, and further controls were announced. The surrounding town offers facilities and access to the Braunsberg.

“Camping is generally prohibited in this place”—a municipal employee told us this. He said there would be further inspections in the future, so we drove on.Translating
A great place; we stayed here for two days during the week without any problems. Despite the hot weather, the site was almost empty the whole time, though this may be different on a sunny weekend. The town is very nice and has everything you need. The castle ruins and Braunsberg are also recommended—the view is fantastic. Everything is within walking distance.Translating
Beautiful, quiet site with enough shaded space. There is a toilet five minutes’ walk away, directly at the entrance to the outdoor pool, which was open at least during the day. A drive or hike up Braunsberg for sunset is also highly recommended.Translating
Nice, quiet place. Staying overnight here for the second time, but the police have not visited us yet. Perhaps someone does not want people staying overnight here.Translating
Beware of the police—we were woken at around 6:30 a.m. and only narrowly avoided a fine.Translating
Beautiful, level grassy area. A second area is slightly lower and is actually the outdoor pool parking lot, but according to a local resident it is closed in 2025 due to staff shortages. That is probably why there are also many mosquitoes. So far there is no overnight ban; please keep it clean.Translating
Great place to spend one or two nights; the setting is really beautiful. There were five vans/motorhomes and still plenty of space. It is well shaded. The only problem is the massive number of mosquitoes in the evening. We are used to mosquitoes, but there were truly a lot, and they were very aggressive.Translating
We slept very well and the atmosphere was very pleasant. However, there were thousands of mosquitoes!Translating
I tried to sleep at the very top of the mountain. The view is fantastic, that is a fact. In the evening there was noise and young people partying. Then around 3:30 a.m., we were awakened by a flock of sheep bleating and running in all directions. There were about a hundred of them; it was impressive—and noisy. So the place is perfect for an epic night. If you want to sleep, however, not so much.Translating
Magnificent flat, grassy place. But on this Saturday evening, the tables were occupied until very late by very noisy beer drinkers. We moved to the parking area higher up next to the skate park, less attractive but quieter. Another option is to drive to the top of the mountain via the toll road (€4). There is a car park with a superb view over the Danube, but it is busy until sunset.Translating
Very peaceful place, with many opportunities for sightseeing and hiking. FR–SUN (car and caravan).Translating
Wonderful place. We arrived late in the evening and were very happy that the place lived up to everyone’s comments! We slept wonderfully!Translating
Beautifully located. Absolutely quiet. Unfortunately, the mountain pool was closed due to staff shortages. According to the regional newspaper, it will open in July.Translating
Beautiful spot in Hainbuch on the Danube. Ten minutes to the nearest bakery. There is a small bench with a table and a rubbish bin that is emptied daily. The municipal worker had no problem with us staying there for one night. Great place, gladly again!Translating
Great place. Hassle-free evening and night. Great for bike trips in all directionsTranslating
Great place, very quiet and not busy. A few minutes’ walk to the Danube and the town center, shopping, sights, and so on.Translating
Good spot, close to a wonderful view of the Danube and the historic town. There are nice little tables among the pine trees. There are two parking areas and plenty of space. A minor disadvantage is the houses nearby, where a dog was barking.Translating
