Unnamed Road, 11010, Valsavarenche
Been here?
This is the Savoy shelter parking area, offering impressive views of lakes and mountains and access to numerous hiking routes. Camping in the Grand Paradis Park is forbidden, and there are no services apart from the shelter’s bar and restaurant. The road to the hut is very winding and narrow. Access may be restricted on busy weekends, with a free shuttle sometimes operating after the road closes; the approach also requires payment at the Serru dam and is limited to 350 vehicles days, with a 90€ fine.

Apparently free parking with a superb view of the lakes and mountains, convenient for starting hikes.
Warning: you absolutely must stop at the Serru dam, scan the QR code, and pay because the limit is 350 vehicles per day. Fine: €90. This is not necessarily clearly visible.
Magnificent place!
Beautiful place with numerous hikes. Crowded on weekends, Sundays, and public holidays; the road may be closed and access is by free shuttle. Very crowded on weekends.
A few fairly long spaces for motorhomes opposite the refuge. Very quiet with a superb view. Perfect for an easy hike around the lakes above the refuge!
Wonderful place, very quiet. Excellent starting point for hikes. The refuge has a generator, so it is better to park farther away to avoid the noise.
