We recommend the campsite. The sanitary facilities are very clean, the water is hot, and the campsite is very well maintained. New managers. The town of Chinon is worth discovering: a medieval town with a restored fortress. Campsite on the banks of the Vienne. Thank you to the manager for his welcome. We will gladly return.
Good campsite with wide pitches and newly renovated sanitary facilities with very hot water. Choice of pitches, with shade, sun, or both, and the sound of birds.
Very pleasant campsite near the Vienne and just steps from old Chinon and the fortress. Shaded and fairly large spaces, clean sanitary facilities with hot water.
Very friendly welcome from the new managers, spacious and shaded pitches, recent and well-maintained sanitary facilities. Ideal for spending a few quiet days and visiting Chinon and the surrounding area.
Quiet location on the banks of the Vienne. The castle is just a few steps away. Early in the season, the campsite seems to be under new management. The sanitary facilities are dated but were clean. Low price: €15.50 for a van.
Quiet campsite close to the town center. Showers and toilets are mediocre; the doors should be repaired because there is a gap even when closed. Good for one night. Hot water is a plus.
The location of this site just over the bridge from the town is the great selling point. The sanitary facilities are basic but clean. The layout of pitches is a bit haphazard but its very peaceful and the views from the road of the chateau are great. There is not and never has been a swimming pool. There is a sports centre nearby. Would happily use again
Arrived at 1pm. Reception closed until 4pm. Had a look around and sadly the place does look very neglected. This is a shame as location is fantastic. Probably would have given it a go to stay in Chinon but moved on.
Hello, this campsite is simply disastrous. The sanitary facilities are very old, poorly maintained and dirty; it would be good to take matters in hand quickly. The pitches are poorly marked in September. People park however they like. I absolutely do not recommend it.
Great location, easy walk to the castle, and pretty site. Some pitches are not clearly marked and witnessed two disputes at check-in. Sadly, toilets and showers very poor. Most were closed or out of service, the ones that were open were not well looked after. Stayed 2 nights, did not have a problem with noise.
A campsite that deserves a makeover, both the sanitary facilities and the pitches.
Very pretty campsite near the town of Chinon with everything you need, and very close to the greenway for cycling. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities were not very clean; often the cleaning team had only quickly washed the floor and had not touched the toilets or sinks. Nothing else to say!
Campsite very well located for exploring Chinon and its surroundings; quiet and clean. I had some reservations following certain reviews, but we were not disappointed. The sanitary facilities are admittedly a little old, but clean, and the welcome was very friendly.
Excellent base for visiting the town and castle. Very quiet. It could certainly use some modernization, but nothing is missing. Everything is clean and tidy. Some pitches are shaded and others sunny. We would return.
Advertised as three stars, but it is not! No pool as indicated, almost unsanitary, sanitary facilities and showers are not clean. In addition to the obvious dilapidation of the common areas, the electrical hookups are outdated and not all work. Unfortunately, we do not recommend it. Very unfortunate because it is very well located. See the Google reviews.
Exceptional small campsite with grass and lots of shade. Some pitches are along the Vienne River with a spectacular view of the town and castle. A dream.
The location is perfect for visiting the town and castle. Very friendly welcome and more than enough space. Clean bathrooms. Everything was fine, including the reasonable price. In the evening we had a beer on comfortable loungers by the river at the bar just outside, which also serves food.
Good sized pitches in a selection of sunny or shade. The staff are very welcoming and there are some occasional evening events such as wine tasting and bbq. A short walk takes you over the river into town. We found that there is an elevator from one of the central car parks which takes you up to the level of the Chateau ideal for my wife who is in a wheelchair. The comments about the site cleanliness, I can see that they could be improved with attention to detail but on the three nights we stayed I used them every day and saw them cleaned by the staff twice a day. Good value for money and we would stay again.
Can’t understand some of the negative reviews, we arrived at 13:40hrs and the campsite was open, host was friendly and most accommodating. Yes some of the sanitary blocks are closed, but those which were open where clean, the campsite is not pristine, but the pitches are large with plenty of shade, so ideal stopover to visit the beautiful city Chinon which is 15mins away on foot. Would stay again
I didn’t go there, although I wanted to. The previous reviews are not very positive, which is a shame because Chinon is a unique town! You have to arrive between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., the working hours of the local government staff.
Indeed, this campsite has good potential: close to central Chinon and the cycling greenway. It is a shame that it is deteriorating, with little or no maintenance and afternoon opening only from 4 p.m. The decision-makers should rethink their approach.
Well located, near many cycle routes and close to the pleasant town. The campsite has lots of shade from large trees. It could be tidier, but we have seen worse. The beach bar next door creates a nice holiday atmosphere; the music lasted until 11 p.m. on Thursday evening. Otherwise, it was a quiet campsite.
Campsite very well located in town. Perfect welcome; the only drawback is that the sanitary facilities are not very clean and one shower does not close. The campsite is quiet.
