Free wild camping spot at 950m altitude on a peaceful, maintained plateau with views. Water and toilet available; picnic tables provided. Close to village (10 min walk) with grocery stores, bread, and occasional food vendors. Excellent for hiking and mountain biking. Can get crowded on holiday weekends; challenging terrain may not suit non-4x4 vehicles.

Area designated for this purpose, green and peaceful. Many friendly regulars know it. Perfect, with toilets and water access. Magnificent natural setting; see the Pierres Charbonnières.Translating
Very large grassy site next to the municipal forest of St Nicolas des Biefs. A very peaceful and cool night despite the heatwave.Translating
Wonderful spot, which we would like to come across more often. We are not crammed together if everyone respects each other's space! Thank you to the person who maintains the site.Translating
Many thanks to the person who maintains the site; we were able to rest for three nights with drinking water and pleasantly clean toilets! Please respect the cleanliness of the place! There is a brush in the toilets, toilet paper, and a dumpster outside, so there is no excuse. To avoid damaging the grass, we stayed on the flat gravel parking area.Translating
Peaceful natural place where calm reigns. Very clean toilets are available, as well as a place to wash dishes and get water. Plenty of walks to enjoy in the surrounding area. Many thanks to the person who maintains the site.Translating
Very nice spot, not many people, peaceful. I recommend it. Plus for the picnic tables and toilets.Translating
A place just as we like them: spacious, in nature, and thanks to the kind owner equipped with toilets and a tap. Very close to hiking trails, the village, Pierre Chastel, and the twisted beech trail. A pleasure at the beginning of August. Many thanks!Translating
A lovely surprise; this spot is what we all look for every evening to settle in. Nature, peace and quiet, a water point, and clean facilities. You can see that this place was created by someone passionate. Many thanks.Translating
Very pleasant spot. Clean toilets and washbasins.Translating
Second visit to this spot for three nights, and I find the place just as perfect. Quiet (on Saturday there was a group of young people doing civil service, but they left early in the evening), water point, toilets, tables and benches, trash bin... Everything is designed to be practical and comfortable while remaining close to nature. Well done to the person who maintains this completely free place.Translating
I had the pleasure to meet the gentleman who is maintaining this spot and we had a lovely conversation about travels and vans. This place is intentionally maintained as a little bit of freedom for all of us so please respect it as such. And yes it’s beautiful and perfect. Might be tricky for non 4x4 if grass is wet to get in or out. If dry, no issues. Road is very narrow if you pass by the village
Nice place, but it can attract crowds on a Friday evening during the Ascension holiday weekend. So the peace and relaxing atmosphere may be disrupted by children playing and running everywhere, a bonfire made by one group, a trumpet played by another, and so on. However, it remained friendly and respectful of everyone. The toilets and water were working at that time, and everything was very clean! We had a lovely night.Translating
Very nice and very peaceful.Translating
Very pleasant spot; depending on the place you choose, you can have shade in the evening or morning. We stayed for two nights; on the second night, there were six of us, including passing vans and campers. The area is large enough not to disturb one another. Clean and quiet. I am surprised by some unflattering comments that do not match reality.Translating
Superb spot. Large area for about six motorhomes, with no shade. Smaller vehicles can settle under the trees, although beware of getting stuck in wet weather. Clean, functional toilet with toilet paper! Urinals. Large sink with three taps and a trash bin. The place is maintained. Superb lawn and forest. In summer, children's camps are present during the day.Translating
A large site with something for everyone, whether a picnic area, a large meadow, or a gravel area. Peace, relaxation, recharging, hiking, or biking—there is something for everyone. Water runs, the sanitary facilities work, and there is a trash bin. Nothing is broken; it clearly shows its age, but it is clean, and there is even toilet paper. It is functional. I will come again.Translating
Noisy and overcrowded??? Impossible. I live next door and created the spot. What noise??? It is in the middle of nature on the edge of a forest. Overcrowded? When there are two vehicles, that is the maximum. There is an error in the location.Translating
Noisy and overcrowded. Dirty both times I went there.Translating
Very good for walking and climbing if you like climbing. Peaceful in the middle of nature. Very pleasant because there is plenty of space! The water and sanitary facilities are still closed. Maybe it is too early?Translating
