This steep, dark parking area is mainly useful for visiting the Sarmizegetusa Regia archaeological site, about a 10min walk away. The ground is uneven and unsuitable for comfortable cooking or sleeping, with no genuinely flat place. The site is quiet and has usable 4G signal. The last 4 kms of road are narrow in places.

Parking slopy, ugly, concreted, dark. Site not worth a visit imho (the pillars we see are industrially cut wood, not pre-roman relics). Park in one of the many spots in the valley along the river :)

The only reason for staying here is to visit the archeological site. The parking lot is too steep for anything else : cooking, sleeping...It's a 10min walk from here to the site. Note that the last 4 kms till this parking is very narrow at some points. Pray you don't meet with a tourbus coming from the opposite direction as we did...
