Very good spot for a peaceful night. Some daytime traffic from hikers and people going to the island. Take the opportunity to buy bread on the island; it is excellent, traditionally made, inexpensive, and there is plenty of choice. In any case, you will not find anything else around the lake; there is no grocery shop. You can sleep anywhere around the lake, so please respect the places. Thank you to the municipalities.Translating
Great parking area; we spent the night there. Toilets on site. Officially, camping is prohibited and the maximum parking duration is 24 hours, according to the municipal signs at the entrance.Translating
Great spot: clean, functional facilities, complete peace and quiet, no traffic, no noise, and no light pollution. Small beach for swimming. Starting point for exploring the island and its contemporary art centre. Fantastic.Translating
Excellent trail route with direct access to the peaceful island; sanitary facilities nearby.Translating
100 metres west of the main area, there are four lovely pitches directly by the lake, to the right away from the access road. Best access to the lake is between the approach to the bridge and the boat landing. Best swimming and fishing opportunities.Translating
Good spot. Toilets and sinks available. Possibility of hiking. The island is pleasant to visit and invites calm. For lovers of peace and quiet, there is nothing to do around it.Translating
Very peaceful night in this season, with lovely walks.Translating
I spent two nights there. During the day at the weekend, there are lots of people and passers-by. But from 7 p.m. onwards, you hear only the birds. I confirm that the island baker’s bread is really good.Translating
We stayed two days and two nights at this place. Pleasant view of the lake, very quiet at night. Bins available. Interesting starting point for cycling and walking. We confirm that the island baker’s bread is very good!Translating
Very quiet in the evening, ideally located for visiting Vassivière Island. Avoid the modern art museum (seven or eight photos taped to the wall in an empty building for a €5 entrance fee). Overall, a good overnight option.Translating
Good location, quiet, convenient, and accessible for long vehicles. Ideal for visiting the island. Toilets closed at this time of year.Translating
Large spacious parking area on two levels, reasonably flat. Toilet available and open 24 hours, although there is not always toilet paper and there was no soap. Waste-sorting bins available. Beautiful view and especially quiet after 5 p.m. Close to the footbridge to the island, with a walking path along the water.Translating
Nice parking area in a quiet, shady spot with a view of the lake. Good starting point for cycling or walking. There are also several spaces around the lake that are not necessarily listed, so if you cannot find a place here, there are options nearby.Translating
Very good for the island’s trail, plenty of space, but no satellite reception.Translating
Great spot. We were 19 vehicles one evening at the end of August. Quiet, clean, with clean toilets on site. Thanks to the municipality for welcoming us.Translating
Great place; honestly, those who criticize it... It is free, permitted, with toilets including paper and clean sinks. What is there to complain about? Quiet, and early risers will appreciate the beautiful morning. Thanks to the municipality for this place.Translating
Wonderful, very quiet place in the evening. A lovely walk to take; you absolutely must buy bread from the island bakery. I will return. Thanks to the municipality and Lake Vassivière.Translating
Not the most glamorous place we have stayed, but it has the merit of being large and well located. Plus, there is a view of the lake and island if you find the right spaces. A great deal of traffic during the day. To find a space more easily, arrive at the end of the day once the cars start leaving. In the off-season it must be excellent. The bread on the island is very good!Translating
Great spot near the lake, very peaceful, with toilets and a bridge to the island. A top-notch place.Translating
Very large, clean parking area, partly shaded. Toilets on site. Lots of activity during the day but very quiet at night. Very good bread on the island, highly recommended. Many hiking trails nearby. We will also return for the tranquillity of the place. Well done and thank you to the local authority for welcoming motorhomes.Translating
Great walk and parking area with good relations, except for one van that even left a broken glass on the parking area—what a disgrace.
A very peaceful night beside the lake! Clean toilet and tap, and a pleasant walk around the parking area. It was a very calm and wonderfully enjoyable night!
Wonderful place in front of the bridge leading to Vassivière Island. The night was very quiet. Thanks to the municipality!
Wonderful place with a “view of the lake” (depending on the space; because of the foliage it is more of a glimpse than a view), but that does not detract from the beauty and tranquillity of the place. Lovely walk on Vassivière Island, which also has a bar/restaurant. Perfect for all types of motorhomes or converted vehicles. Toilets, bins, and picnic tables available.
Superb view of the lake, very quiet for the night. In short, perfect for motorhomes, with many spaces. Toilets and recycling bins in the parking area.
Beautiful place! Thanks to the municipality for allowing us to spend the night there.
The municipality provides containers for rubbish. Separate recycling bins—green, yellow, and blue—are at the back of the parking area. Black rubbish bins are near the toilets. Everyone should respect the site and put the right waste in the right container. Let us respect this place and those who maintain it. Thank you in advance.
Many thanks to the municipality for allowing us to park in this area day and night. However, motorhomes should ideally park correctly perpendicular to the spaces. Some park lengthwise and take several spaces. One day we will be evicted from this beautiful place. So please use some common sense.
Two nights on site. Very quiet place in the middle of nature, with clean toilets.
Quiet and pleasant, with a view of the lake; toilets open in May.
Very quiet with a magnificent view. Starting point for hikes.
Excellent, very pretty place with a large parking area. Public toilets and drinking water, very clean! Lovely walks, very touristy.
Quiet parking area. Beautiful view. The 7 km walk around the island is very pleasant.
Very pretty spot to wake up to, with a view of the lake; toilets still closed in early April.
We spent two nights there. Absolute peace and quiet at this time of year. Perfect.
Pleasant in this season if you want to go to the island. It is a fairly busy parking area because of people going to the island.
Wonderful overnight spot. Do not miss the lovely twinkling lights on the island from the bridge after dark. Toilets still closed in early March.
