Hülsenberg 12, 21379, Scharnebeck
Been here?
Wohnmobilstellplatz Scharnebeck is a quiet parking area beside the Scharnebeck boat lift on the Elbe Lateral Canal, behind a police station. Electricity, fresh water, waste disposal, garbage containers and sanitary facilities are available, with a snack bar on site and Aldi nearby. Payment is possible only with coins, and recent tickets did not reliably provide 24h; a toilet costs 0,70 cent. The boat lift is a 3-minute walk away, making the site suitable mainly for a short stop.

Apart from the fact that you can only pay with coins, the machines are not set up for 24 hours for motorhomes. Our €10 ticket was not even valid for 12 hours. The neighbors beside us arrived earlier and had the same 12-hour expiry time. Nothing made sense. Fine for one night. Toilets require payment.
Quiet, sunny place. After six weeks in Scandinavia, I am deducting one star because payment is only possible with coins. If card payment is not offered, parking apps could at least be considered… assuming the people responsible read the reviews.
Nice, quiet and inexpensive place. In 2026, payment is still only possible with coins. How out of touch with reality is the administration?
Nice place to go and see the lock, but one overnight stay is enough. Only a paid toilet, 0.70 cents.
A nice motorhome site. One star deducted for the antiquated payment system, which accepts only coins. A cashless alternative would be desirable. A nice fenced dog exercise area is a five-minute walk away. You can also walk dogs very well here.
Unfortunately, there is no view of the Elbe Lateral Canal. The ticket machine accepts cash only. A footpath leads to Aldi. Great for dog paws. The Italian restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Public toilets at the tourist office on the square cost 70 cents. Otherwise, everything is as already described.
Everything you need is here: electricity and water/waste disposal. Absolutely quiet location, and you feel safe parked right next to the police station. The ship lift is definitely worth seeing. Not for a vacation, but perfect for passing through. Highly recommended.
Good place for one night. Unfortunately, all the electrical outlets were occupied when we arrived. Payment is straightforward, but only possible with coins. Sanitary facilities are clean and in good condition.
Large area. You can put out a table and chairs, provided you put them away at night. Absolutely quiet. Starting point for bicycle tours. Restaurant/snack bar on site; toilets were very clean and free for us.
We stayed here for one night; everything we needed was available, with a snack bar nearby. It is relatively quiet, and we had a peaceful night. Water and waste disposal are available. There is only one electricity hookup in the middle, but it is sufficient. The ship lift and Aldi are reachable on foot in five minutes. Everything is paid for with coins, so stock up beforehand. If we are nearby, we will definitely come back.
This is ideal for seeing the ship lift. You can park on the grass.
The place is great, and the toilets were okay. The nearby restaurant was very good and the service extremely friendly!
Beautiful, quiet place. Unfortunately, the electricity supply is broken.
Nice motorhome site; clean toilets and a delicious restaurant next door. Unfortunately, payment is only possible with coins, although at least 10 cents to 2 euros are accepted. Very quiet. Good water and waste disposal.
Nice, quiet motorhome site, perfect for passing through. The ship lift was very interesting and only a five-minute walk away. One point deducted for the payment system, which works only with coins—not really up to date anymore ;-)
During our last visit in autumn 2023, we paid €6, and now it is €10. That is outrageous. Therefore, this time we are staying only one night because of the rip-off.
Slept well. Ate well at the neighboring restaurant, and enjoyed a beautiful, interesting walk to the ship lift. You need coins not only for the parking meter, but also for electricity (€1) and waste disposal (€1 for flushing water). The gray-water drain is a little difficult to access.
Our starting point for every tour of Denmark. Quiet, level place with a view of the ship lift. Toilets are available and cleaned every morning. Important: bring €10 in coins if you want to stay in the fenced motorhome area. The front parking area also accepts cards, but the maximum parking time is limited to 11:59 p.m. on the current day. Anything beyond that risks a parking ticket ;-)
The motorhome site can only be paid for with coins. The toilets were clean and free. €10 for one night.
Paved motorhome site, partly with electricity. Almost level. Public toilets directly next door at the tourist information office. Five minutes on foot to the impressive ship lift. Aldi is right next door, accessible across the grass. Recommended for one night. The machine accepts only cash/coins, however.
Beautiful, quiet place. I ended up here by chance and will return for a stopover.
Great place to spend a night. Easy to get to and amazing ship lift to watch. Was a little surprised how busy it was (May20th) with 18 MH's staying the night. Couldn't hook up and we (English speaking) found the new car parking card machines confusing. It appeared to be for the car park not the MH part. Paid in 1 euro coins instead. Great canal walks, immaculate toilets and nice info centre.
Completely fine for one night, and the price is reasonable. The ship lift is really interesting. The visitor area, including the very nice lady at reception, is also well worth seeing. Unfortunately, the ship lift had a technical defect, so we could not see it operating.
The place is okay, but offers little. Four spaces are divided, while the rest park wherever they can. Eight electricity spaces! More vehicles can stay, though. Water and waste disposal are available, more or less. The parking meter is brand new and now also accepts cards. Everything is crying out for renovation. No Wi-Fi; there is free Wi-Fi at the ship lift visitor center. The signal could be extended—the site can detect it.
A nice, quiet motorhome site. There is a good restaurant where prices are still reasonable and the food is delicious. The disadvantage was that you need to bring enough coins for parking and electricity.
Quiet spot near the ship lift (easily reachable on foot), a must for ship and technology enthusiasts! Currently only one tub is operating, but I was lucky enough to watch two ships. The toilets are apparently in the information kiosk and were unfortunately closed. There was no information about when they are open.
Fair price for an overnight stay with free waste disposal. Anyone choosing a place like this near a city should realize that you are staying in a car park. The attraction, shopping and waste facilities were reasons for us to stay overnight and during the day. Thanks to the operators for providing this place. Modernization has been announced, which will probably increase the family-friendly price.
Had a good night. If you need electricity for more than 8 hours, simply put more euros in the slot. So 16 hours = 2 euros, 24 hours = 3 euros. Water works, and there is rinse water for the toilet too. What more could you want? Quite acceptable even for a somewhat dated site. Thanks to the municipality for providing it.
The site is crying out for renewal, which the municipality also recognizes. Fine for one night, but unfortunately there was no fresh water; it had been turned off. The waste disposal facilities are dated, electricity costs €1 for 8 hours, and the site is close to the ship lift. Modern toilet building, open because the payment machine was broken. The restaurant looked good, but we did not try it. We will see what it looks like next year after the renovation, perhaps.
