A wonderful spot, well worth the £10. I paid for the night but I have a feeling it's gonna be two. A family having a picnic gave me some milk, so I have everything. If your coming north from Newcastle way, your sat nav will have two routes, take the right hand one, up the A1, it's a bit of a pain in the ---, the other way, the way I came.
Very nice, clean and quiet car park. Public toilets are clean. Lovely walking and cycling path with several attractions. The complete circuit around Kielder Water is about 35 km. Shorter interesting routes are also possible if you do not need to complete a circuit. Osprey station with live cameras and binoculars. Good overnight option.
Great stop over. Lots of walking and views of the water. Much better than the main car park (head left to the ‘overflow’). In the morning we went to the cafe and visited the Osprey Watch, lots of info and a live camera of the Osprey’s nest.
Beautiful place to stay, got in around 7pm, ticket over night £15, said expires at 6am, but the ranger said be OK till 9am, didn’t leave till 2 next day and no rangers came back but at £6.59 for the full day & £15 for a night, you have good toilets open 24 hours, beautiful walks and the sky at night was just something else. Highly recommend, even better if the cafe had opened.
Stayed for 2 nights, only us on the first night and a handful more the next day. Very quiet, lovely location. We paid at the machine for overnight, it said it was until 6am on the machine and the ticket. Didn't see any wardens checking tickets.
Parked here for one night. A warden came round at 9 p.m. to check that we had paid. We paid via QR code, which he said was technically wrong but acceptable for the night, so I would advise paying at the machine. It was just us and one other camper. A gorgeous spot!
We parked at the lower car park but the upper car park was also available. Toilets open all night. Fresh water, and hoses to wash down your shoes, dogs and mountain bikes. Overnight parking £15 (machines & QR Codes). The wardie comes round about 20:45 to check yer ticket. Plenty to do if you enjoy the outdoors, but an equally tranquil spot if you just want to chill
Good spot, but be aware that overnight parking is now £15, from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. Arriving earlier will incur the daytime charge as well.
Lower car park almost to myself. Cheaper to pay here than the other car parks but the ticket is transferable. Toilets open all night. Cafe open 10-4 in September
Good stop off for the night with a cafe at the top of the car park. Tad sloppy in places but can easily sort out with chocks. Only paid £5.75 and didn’t get a knock from the warden but we did pull up quite late.
We’re here 06-07-2025 what an amazing park up, can’t believe we’re the only ones in the lower car park, bought the ticket via the QR code, arrived at 13:00 booked till 15:00 the next day all for £8.00 The security guy came found at about 18:00 and checked the parking e-mail, he also came round a few times through the evening( felt very safe) don’t be put off by the midges they we’re fine.
Stopped here on 15/6/25 paid using the app £5.50. Warden came around 8pm showed him email and he was on his way. Only people in the car park all night toilets open and clean shop opened at 9 for Coffee unfortunately cafe was shut for renovation work
Excellent stopover. Great cycle ride around the lake. Paid by QR code on the sign. £5.50 for the night.
£15 a night. Great views, toilets open all night and 5G signal. Had a great sleep. So peaceful here. Bought ticket in advance from bookwhen site and displayed email confirmation in window.
The lower car park is beautiful beside the water, but mostly too sloping to get level. A few places at the far top right after entering are easier. A fault with the payment app via the QR code on the notice meant we were charged only £5.50 for the night. The warden knew about the problem and did not ask for extra payment. Fantastic value!
Good nights sleep, lovely view of the lake. Full phone coverage, paid by the app, (as struggled with the machine). Toilets open, centre currently closed for refurb. Quiet, spectacular stars.
