This wild spot along the road is suitable for an overnight stay and for starting the Vignemale hike, near a shepherd’s hut. The path is narrow, and the final two kilometers are tracked but in good condition; beyond that, access becomes trickier. The road to the dam is bumpy but manageable for a Peugeot Boxer, with very quiet nights, marmots, no bins, and no cellphone reception.

Great quiet spots along this road. We drove all the way to the dam with the lake. A bit bumpy but doable with our Peugeot boxer. Had a very quiet night along the road. Lots of marmots. No bins and no cellphone receive. Only beautiful nature.
