Mountain parking, wind exposed

Great for campers who want to hike. If you park sensibly, there is room for many campers. We arrived in the evening because we wanted to hike in the morning. Unfortunately, many people stay here after their hike and block spaces for those looking for a place to park.

Quiet overnight spot with a fantastic view. It was completely full during the day with visitors to the Gausta cable car, but by late afternoon only about six campers remained. Gaustatoppen is highly recommended; if you want to go up, arrive early, before eleven, otherwise you will wait in line for a while.

Great view, and in the morning you are quickly at the Gausta cable car, where there is also a kiosk, souvenir and ticket shop, and toilets, open during the cable car's operating hours. We initially had fairly strong winds, which eased during the evening. However, the site is very exposed, and since it is above the tree line, it is at least unsuitable for pop-top roofs in strong winds.

We stayed for one night. Totally quiet because there is no through traffic. It is still a gravelled and paved motorhome stop, and the access road is also gravelled. Easy to drive on. In good weather, the view is breathtaking. Highly recommended. Let’s take good care of this little place. The cable car to Gaustatoppen is not cheap, but it is an experience ;-)

Quiet parking area at night. From here you can climb Gaustatoppen on foot or take the funicular. Magnificent panorama at the summit. We are at an altitude of 1,200 m, and you can feel it in the temperature.

We were alone in this parking lot in September and we felt very safe, it was also very quiet. It was just a bit windy as it was very exposed. The view was very nice and it was free of charge. We were there on a rainy day and the ground was still hard. Unfortunately there were no facilities available as the only garbage bin available was locked. The access road is unpaved but we had no issues.

Splendid view. Quiet and at the foot of the climb to Mount Gausta. Don't hesitate!

We had a good night here with only two other motorhomes.

Parking with a beautiful view, directly below the trail up to Gaustatoppen/Gaustabanan. No services, although there is an open parking area with toilets at Gaustabanan from approximately 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We stayed here with a few other campers for a quiet night. Wonderful view and perfect proximity to the hike up the mountain.

There are not many places like this: a magnificent view and complete solitude. We approached from Route 37; beware, there is a 10% gradient, and the final 200 m are on a paved gravel road.

Great spot if you want to climb Gaustatoppen early. Super views and completely quiet at night.

Very beautiful and quiet spot with fantastic views. During train operating hours it is extremely busy, afterward there are only three or four motorhomes. The railway toilets are open only during operating hours.

Spent a night here alone in the world at the beginning of May. Magnificent views, with skiing and hiking to keep you occupied. Still a lot of snow, but temperatures were above freezing at night (1°C), which was more than I expected. 9 km at a 10% grade and the last 500 meters are on a dirt road to get there.

A very beautiful place; it is better to stop here than at the spots up by the road. It is high mountain terrain, so it can be cold and windy.

Ideal place to stay for one night if you want to go to Gaustatoppen the next day. Overnight stays are officially allowed, but actually only for Gaustabanen customers. Phenomenal views.
