Hilltop picnic stop, uneven access

A nice, quiet, secluded spot for smaller campers. Toilet with running water. Rubbish bins and picnic tables available.

Good quiet place. Approaching via Mariager and through the small forest is much easier than via the small local community, which is narrow and steep, with no passing possible and unsuitable for larger and taller campers. I would recommend a maximum length of 7 metres, considering the size of the parking area and avoiding obstructing the locals.

Yes, a very quiet place, but also very remote, right in the middle of the forest. It may be very pleasant, but we did not stay; we were alone and did not really feel safe spending the night.

Very idyllic place at the burial mound and small museum. Toilets available. Everything very clean and well maintained. Picnic tables available. From the mound you can see the fjord. Very quiet!

Like a well-hidden place. To get there, follow the Hohøj sign, not your GPS, which will take you to the largest Danish burial mound. The road is unpaved and rough. But the reward is at the top: picnic tables, a small museum that is always open, toilet and rubbish bin. A small nearby burial mound. And peace and quiet... with birdsong.

Wonderful place in nature to linger. We stayed there alone for one night, with some Highland cattle as neighbours. A small open exhibition house, a toilet building, perfectly fine with toilet paper, sink and soap, and several picnic tables and rubbish bins. We have rarely found such a great place for wild camping.

We had this to ourselves, and it felt like one of the most magical stopovers we have encountered in 15 years of motorhoming. Sharing with others, it would soon feel over-cosy. TIP: leave the tarred road at the following coordinates: 56.64682, 9.99497. This is where you will find the sign to the historical site. Satnav directed access at the other end of the gravel loop is too steep and narrow.

Fabulous location right next to the largest Viking burial mound in Scandinavia. Small museum always open plus highland cows as neighbours plus we saw hares. Peaceful night.

We spent one very quiet night here.Only one local car passed by all night. Interesting site of the largest burial mound in Denmark. Local walking routes marked on the plan.

Absolutely superb. Very quiet at night, but otherwise well visited by locals. A free "museum" and toilet, as well as tables, benches and a rubbish bin. One spot under the oak by the information sign is even level. For the approach, do not use the Google route; instead, about 400 metres beforehand, follow the sign to Hohøj via Hohøj Skovvej—it is much easier.

Brilliant! What a beautiful place, quiet and clean, with tables, toilets and rubbish bins. The best.
