Small free gravel parking area beside a cottage in the Schraubachtobel gorge, reached via a dead-end gravel access road. There's a toilet, a natural spring for water, and a large bin for rubbish, but no electricity. The rapid mountain stream running alongside can be quite loud. A steep path leads up to the Salginatobel bridge and historic trail. As of mid-2025 a posted sign banned overnight camping in the area, though the parking itself may still be usable.

For about two days there has been a camping prohibition in this area (sign). Camping is prohibited at this spot.
**Gravel road is FREE, don't pay.** Fantastic free parking lot next to a cottage. WC, outdoor benches and grill can be freely used when cottage isn't rented to paying guest. The rapid river is slightly loud. No electricity. Water from a natural fountain. Rubbish is collected and has a large container. Starlink reception is limited by a steep south facing mountain slope but works.
Great place! I do not know why everyone writes that access is subject to a fee. That is FALSE! If you drive only as far as the barbecue shelter, access is free and you do not need a CHF 10 driving permit. The fee-based section only starts farther back. That is also what the signs on site say.
A dreamlike and truly special place in the middle of nature! A permit costing CHF 10 must be purchased to use the access road, payable via an app. There is a barbecue area, a water fountain, and a clean toilet on site. The river next to it is very loud. The area is also at risk of flooding.
Great place. Access is apparently subject to a fee. However, we arrived there at night in the rain and did not see the signs—only on the way back. The parking area is highly recommended, and we enjoyed the hike along the historic path.
