Beach parking, camping prohibited

Only one star because I could not find an access route to the beach, and of course there were no signs. The navigation system wants to take you under the railway, but that is only for passenger cars. It is a narrow, arched tunnel. I could not find another route.

Preferably visit outside the season. Large spaces by the sea.

We came during the day in April. Very nice place. Beach of large pebbles. Superb view of Castel di Tusa. But… the showers do not work, and it is stated that camping is prohibited throughout the municipality.

Expansive grounds on the pebble beach. We were here in February. We parked directly behind Giovanni’s Lido Est restaurant. We were warmly welcomed; he offered us the use of his toilet and cooked for us. Not cheap, but delicious.

Large flat area after Lido Est; even during the season, overnight parking (no camping) is effectively permitted. There are several showers along the beach.

Extremely quiet off-season, even though the Lido Est bar is still open. Peaceful stop with your tires in the waves.

Be careful in the village and its surroundings: some streets are very, very steep. Otherwise, continue along the road beside the sea toward the east to be truly peaceful. Stop before you can no longer turn around (pebbles along the edge of the road).

Quiet, large parking area. Recommended. We drove a little farther, all the way to the end. There are showers on the beach, but we did not check whether they work.

Superb view at night and during the day too! I continued 200 meters along the road to be more peaceful. There is a no-camping sign.

There are many places for vans or motorhomes all along the beach. Magnificent view of the Aeolian Islands and the town illuminated in the evening. The beach consists of large pebbles, but the water is beautiful. The place is clean. There are beach showers, but they were not working in June. No shade, and a few mosquitoes.

Large grassy area directly on the beach, on a dead-end residential street. There are no services except for a beach establishment and a restaurant nearby. The beach is somewhat uncomfortable because of the pebbles and large stones, but the sunrises and sunsets over the sea are breathtaking. Note that to reach it, you have to pass through a railway underpass 3 meters high.

I don’t know what it is like in high season, but now in mid-May it is the best free camping spot by the sea we have ever had. We are three campers, here for two days, 100 meters apart from one another. Silence, sunsets, and the Est restaurant, which is good and inexpensive.
