Strandavegen, 5745, Aurland
Been here?
A roadside picnic layby for about 5 or 6 campers offers fjord views, rubbish bins, seating and two picnic tables. Camping and overnight stays are forbidden, according to recent signage. The main road is busy and traffic noise is noticeable, although the location suits a rest stop or onward travel. A guardrail prevents access across the road to the fjord-side footpath.

Nice place for a break. Overnight stays prohibited!
Signage says no camping at this site
great spot BUT forbidden for camping
The rest area is large enough and has rubbish bins and seating. However, the road is quite busy and you cannot cross it to reach the pavement along the fjord because of the guardrail.
Of course you can hear road noise, but it is great for passing through or visiting Flåm early the next day!
Picnic area with two tables and space for five or six campers/motorhomes, with privileged views of the fjord. It is right on the road between Flåm and Aurland. Good place to stop for food or a rest.
Great view, relatively quiet, trashcan available. Mobile signal available.
For Flåm, one of the only free places. Fine, close to the road but free. Beautiful view. In Norway, it is complicated to find free places.
Good for sleeping. It is along the road, though. Not a problem for us.
great view of the fjord and Flam at night and waking up in the morning. the only downside is the noise and traffic all night. best to sleep with ear plugs
Excellent place to spend the night after a day in Flåm. Along a busy road, so naturally cars and so on pass by. We had a good night's sleep. We were there with five other campers.
Parking area, yes; overnight spot only in an absolute emergency. Trucks and cars drive all night—and not slowly. We had a restless night.
Simple parking area with a large rubbish bin and picnic bench. The cars and trucks are clearly audible.
nice small rest spot on the E16 2 miles outside Flåm. no facilities but some picnic tables and bins. cycle and footpath into Flåm. Yes, there is traffic noise but didn't bother us. stayed 2 nights. Room for 5 vans. 6 at a push.
Nice spot with a good view of the town and any cruise ships that may be there.
If you have visited Flåm or want to, this is a good overnight option—no more and no less. However, every visitor must be aware that when a cruise ship arrives, Flåm and the surrounding area are flooded within a very short time by thousands of tourists who, just like us, want to enjoy this wonderful landscape. Anyone who prefers a little more peace and quiet should look elsewhere between May and September.
Nice parking area with a view of Flåm. Many vehicles when we arrived around 10 p.m.; there would have been space if people had parked closer together. Everyone likes to keep their distance, but given the season and the fact that there are no other overnight parking areas nearby, people could meet halfway and leave some space.
Beautiful view but right next to the road, so very noisy. Footpath right beside it to walk to Flåm.
