Unnamed Road, 39030, Braies
Been here?
This roadside parking area near Lago di Braies is quiet overnight and about a 5-10 minute walk from the lake, with a bar or cafeteria beside it. Recent summer access reports mention a 2'50-meter height barrier, with larger motorhomes directed to P4 at 45€/24 hours; this parking may require separate daytime and overnight bookings. Toilets are available only during certain hours and there is no water service. Arrival periods can be busy and mornings may be noisy.

We stayed overnight in a camper, it was €40 for 2 bookings. There are free toilets during certain times, however i think P4/P3 may be better suited to overnight stays. Please consider the summer entry requirements of online bookings only between 9 and 4. You can also book any of the parking online.
I was there alone as a woman for two nights and felt very comfortable. The snack-bar owner was very friendly, toilets open for varying lengths of time. Between 7 and 8 a.m. a parking attendant comes to check whether you have paid. I can only recommend this place.
Close to Lago di Braies, so convenient and quiet in the evening, but the snack-bar owner told us we had to pay €20 for the day of arrival and €20 for the following day to stay overnight (we are in a van). It is a little expensive to pay for no amenities, except for the toilets during the snack bar’s opening hours (8 a.m.–8 p.m.)…
There is a height barrier.
Very convenient because it is right next to the lake. You have to arrive around 7:30 p.m.; otherwise there are quite a lot of cars. People arrive early in the morning, so it is a little noisy. We slept very well! We paid only €10 for the night.
Attention: observe the new access conditions for the lake!
Arrive after 7 p.m.; beware, the snack-bar manager is a little grumpy and tends to send vans arriving too late to P3. Otherwise, you can park by entering via the left lane without any problem. Toilets open according to the snack-bar’s hours and more or less clean.
We went at 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. and the height barrier was in place. There were caravans inside; we asked at the food stand and were told that caravans could neither enter nor stay overnight.
There is a 2.50-meter height barrier. Motorhomes and large campers must park in P4 (€20/3 hours or €45/24 hours). There is no other parking option in the area.
Late May 2026: we arrived at 8 p.m., parked with our camper, and slept without problems. There was no control. The next day, around 1 p.m., the parking owner, who was not very friendly, came to collect the €20 as stated in the Park4night comments. Toilets only during the day for €0.50.
jam packed with no toilet or water . we were told we had to buy two tickets one for the night and one for the morning - 10€ each , the guy at the food place said if we bought food he would sort it out but he was closed by the time we got back from the lake . crazy busy . unfortunately it feels like this place has become a victim of instagram tourism !
Parking machine is not accepting card, requires cash. The gentlemen working at Via Snack are providing mixed information to those parking, for us they said we can buy food and they will write us a note to put in the windscreen. To a group of others, they had to buy something and also return with cash to pay for parking when they returned from the lake. 2.5m restriction was temporarily raised
We arrived at 6:30 p.m. and the barriers were raised. Therefore, we took a completely free walk around the lake for a couple of hours. Since we have to continue our route, it would have been a great place to spend the night for free, right next to a wonderful site.
We arrived at 9:30 p.m. and there was no height barrier. There were 3–4 campers and some cars. We visited the lake at sunrise and left at 7:30; there was still no attendant or open bar, so we did not pay for a ticket.
Very close to the lake. Arrive early!
Very close to the lake, we spent a very peaceful night, arriving around 8 p.m. when the height barrier was not in place. We left early to make the most of the day and there were hardly any people at the lake.
Perfect place just 10 minutes walk to lake. Evenings is really quiet and peacefull
Perfect. A peaceful night and a lovely walk to the lake. Although there is a little slope. €10 for 24 hours.
P2 with the barriers open and no security, arriving at 8 p.m. (from 9 a.m. an attendant arrives and you must pay €15 when leaving); if you leave earlier, it is free (as of 3 May 2026). Three minutes’ walk from the lake! No nearby toilets or bins, but the site is incredible! Spectacular landscape, well-leveled parking, and quiet during the night.
P3 parking area, €15. We stayed and also spent the night; in fact, the ticket is valid until 8 the following morning. In our opinion, the cheapest among P1, P2, P3, and P4. No services, but Lago di Braies alone is worth the trip. Treat yourself and eat at La Foresta mountain hut; following the route around the lake, you will find the signs, and you can get there in half an hour. Definitely order the strudel!
We spent one night in the parking area, very well located 10 minutes on foot from Lago di Braies. We arrived at 7 p.m. and there were already a few campers and caravans. The bar’s toilet is open during the day. We paid for a ticket until midnight and then a second one the next morning, but nobody came to check. There are no barriers. €10 for a camper.
Best parking spot, way cheaper than the ones right by the lake and only 10min walk. You buy a day ticket until 11.59pm - cars 7€. A few other campers stayed overnight with us, great to walk to the lake in the morning and see the sunrise before tourist buses arrive.
We arrived late in the evening and waited until midnight to pay because unfortunately there is no other way (€10 for 24 hours). Very convenient for visiting the lake. The toilets are open and clean even at night.
Open to campers in the off-season and the height barrier is inactive. However, I cannot figure out how to get a ticket for 24 hours. It only works for €10 until 11:59 p.m. Apparently you then have to get another one. P2 is cheaper than the pitches closer to the lake. Nevertheless, it is less than a 10-minute walk. Great for daytime parking. We kindly received a ticket from people who had just left. Many thanks to all the caring campers!
€20 for the night, since €10 is charged from midnight to midnight. 5–10 minutes on foot to the lake. Quiet parking area, but very busy.
Now in October the height barrier is removed; apparently in high season it is set at 2.5 m. €10 for 24 hours, but counted from midnight to midnight. Most areas are sloped.
Parking 10 minutes on foot from the lake. We arrived around 4 p.m. and asked someone who was leaving to give us their ticket for the day. No problem finding a space at that time. Then we took a ticket the next morning for the day, €7 in a van. The night was quiet. The snack-bar toilets remain open at night and are clean.
We arrived late in the evening; the parking area was half full. We paid €7 only in the morning, valid until the end of the day. Toilets open all night, free, and OK, although the men’s toilets had no toilet paper. Lago di Braies is about a 10-minute walk away in the morning, a wonderful experience. We spent almost the whole day there, so we visited the lake again during the day, but it no longer had nearly the same atmosphere.
This is P2, which has no height barrier and costs €10/12 hours. It is very busy during the day but empties at night. We spent the night there and, although we paid, nobody checked the tickets, at least until 7 a.m. when we left. There are toilets, and the spaces are quite sloped.
Small parking area with room for taller vans. Camper or car price €10 until 11:50 p.m. There is a very pleasant walk through the forest, so you do not have to walk along the road. It is very close to the lake.
We took the ticket from someone who was leaving and bought our ticket for the following day for €7. Beside the road, so there is some traffic. Snack-bar toilets free outside opening hours.
An excellent alternative for parking near the lake overnight, only a 5-minute walk from P3/P4. The toilets are open all night and clean, with running water, which is a real plus and not available everywhere. The only drawback is that there are few flat spaces!
Excellent location, a 15-minute walk from Lago di Braies. Toilets open at night. Very quiet.
Large parking area with varying slopes. The lake is easily reached via a short path alongside the main road. Toilets cost €0.50; parking is €7. Convenient.
Parking during the day from 7 a.m. It is possible to buy only a day ticket from midnight to 11:59 p.m. Tip: ask to share the price with someone entering the parking area when you leave. No license-plate checks.
Arrive before 9 a.m. or after 4:30 p.m. to avoid the toll road. Parking P2: part paid at the meter and part requiring an online ticket. We arrived at 5:30 p.m., with no attendant. We bought only a ticket from midnight the next day. The attendant arrived around 7:30. He pointed out that we were in an “online” space, but we were leaving, and he was not unpleasant.
Access to the lake site is at the very bottom of the valley. You have to take a ticket at the information point and say what you want to do with your vehicle. In our case it was €24 for the day with a 7-meter motorhome in parking area P1 at the bottom, with a free shuttle to the lake.
We arrived at 6:30 p.m. and there was plenty of space. We were briefly unsure whether our bus (Peugeot Boxer L3H2) would fit underneath. Luckily, only our roof vent touched the height bar. So a bus that is actually 2.6 m high can fit underneath. The spaces at the back are flat and convenient for parking. The rest is a 20-minute walk away :)
Ideal for spending the night and being close to the lake early in the day, before the crowds and when the mountains are reflected in the lake… magnificent. The ticket from the machine is valid only for the parking area along the forest, left-hand entrance. The section along the road and at the bottom is permitted only with an online ticket. An attendant comes by at 7 a.m.
€10 per day, so €20 for the night. Close to the lake but the parking area is slightly sloped. Only 4–5 spaces at the bottom are fairly flat. Very convenient for visiting the lake. Snack bar on site.
