29 Avenue Théophile Delcassé, 09110, Ax-les-Thermes
Been here?
Free, flat parking for day and night beside the Ariège, on a tree-lined promenade about 5 minutes’ walk from the town centre. Nights are generally quiet, with the sound of running water and occasional discreet walkers or cars. The entrance is limited to max 2.10m, making it unsuitable for many motorhomes; there are no nearby toilets, although one is 8 minutes away in another parking area.

Spent one night. Flat parking area. Useful for a stopover.
One night; quiet parking area with few people in winter. There is a bin but no toilets, although there is one 8 minutes' walk away in another parking area. We heard no noise despite cars moving around. You can hear the river if you park next to the streetlights.
Beautiful place, unfortunately only up to 2.10 m. So not suitable for motorhomes. We are moving on.
We spent a very quiet night in this parking area. There was another van with us. A few metres from the parking area, along the promenade, there is a lovely riverside space with a picnic table and a bin.
Large, completely flat parking area on the banks of the Ariège. Quiet night with the sound of the water in the background. A few very discreet walkers in the morning.
Only for cars up to 220 cm. Not for motorhomes.
We spent a wonderfully quiet night here and took a short walk through the town in the morning. Try the hot sulfur foot bath opposite the lift station.
It has only the merit of offering a quiet night's stay. Pros: beside the river, a 5-minute walk from the town centre, fitness trail. Cons: no sanitary facilities nearby, and it remains a parking area.
Free parking for cars and vans. Quiet and with many spaces! Unfortunately, newcomers to the van life do not know the rules that allow us to park without being bothered by the municipal police, locals, and municipalities. They act as if they were in a campsite!
Great quiet spot near to bars and shops. Walkers park here but we had no trouble. Nearly level. Great spot.
Nice parking area: quiet, shaded, and close to the town.
Poorly signposted. Coming from the town centre, cross the small bridge ahead to reach the parking area. Large, quiet parking area beside the river. An apartment building is quite close.
