4x4 access only
Getting here needs an off-road vehicle. Check your ground clearance before setting off.
A small parking area at Col du Galibier with exceptional mountain views and space for roughly ten vehicles. The ascent of the pass is forbidden to motorhomes, which must use the lower tunnel, so this spot is for cars and vans. It can be noisy and busy during the day, while nights may be calm depending on other users. There is no water point or toilet.

Location, location, location. The view in every direction is a dream. The peace depends on the other users, but once the traffic stops at dusk, it is a wonderful place. We enjoyed the sunset and sunrise on the plateau above. Amazing!
Small parking area, lots of noise, not suitable for motorhomes. It deserves credit for existing, but only as a place to stop briefly and take a photo.
Great view, quiet at night. Room for around ten vehicles; tonight there is one car, two vans and one campervan. You can hike just above the parking area via a dedicated trail, as well as another trail behind the Galibier sign, with a worthwhile view from the small ridge. Ideal for one night. However, there are no facilities, so you must be completely self-sufficient.
The view is breathtaking. We stayed overnight here in a Nugget Plus HD.
Magnificent, one of the most beautiful places to spend the night.
Superb overnight spot with an incredible view. Unfortunately, we chose the wrong night and were caught in strong gusts. There are several small parking areas farther down the road where you can stay overnight. No water or toilets.
There is no 2.2-metre height limit.
Sleeping at 2,600 metres gives you a breathtaking view when you wake up. I had no problem parking my 7-metre A-class motorhome, probably thanks to good luck. However, there are many worthwhile spots along the roadside while driving up from Lautaret.
