Quiet riverside parking, unreliable fountains

Huge, completely flat car park at the beautiful sanctuary, right next to the main road. Small surrounding woodland. The available fountains are practically useless. There are several, but some do not work and some only have a trickle of water. The many clean recycling bins are convenient.

At the end of the petrol station, Maps shows a small, barely visible, somewhat overgrown road going downhill at the back. There is probably also an upper route to the church. Huge area for 200 motorhomes, close to nature by the river. Great. Trees for shade and cycling tours. Water, bins and lighting. Completely in the middle of nowhere, with no village nearby—unbelievable. I am the only one here. Good internet reception.

If you go just past the church, round the bend and past the swimming pool parking. On the left should be a large area for 100+ cars that is flat and this is where we stayed. There are 6 drinking water taps, bins and benches that are all free. We went in mid may, it looked slightly abandoned but we had the place to ourselves and it was great. Very nice, large car park near the church and river, with a choice of gravel, asphalt or grass-grid paving; not far from the SS 650; quiet; perfect for a restful night and visiting the church grounds; drinking-water fountains available and working.

Good parking area, flat and paved, quiet at night and during the day, at least at the end of September. The church is stunning and worth a stop.
