1404, Sofia
Been here?
A free parking lot near Sofia’s main boulevard and a tram station, with the city centre reachable by tram. The greener edge can provide two quiet nights, while the main lot may fill during weekdays and is unguarded, littered and uneven. Access is narrow, with deep holes and low branches that can obstruct taller vehicles.

We parked at the edge of the green area (42.6669801, 23.2939815). You cannot hear the main road and are woken by the birds. We spent two peaceful nights here. It is best to drive up from the school and avoid the rest of the parking area, as there are many low branches, deep potholes and narrow passages between the many parked cars.
Many parking spaces, but during the week (around 12:00) practically no free spaces left. There are many deep potholes in the surface. The parking area is unguarded and difficult to see, beware of thieves. Lots of rubbish and neglected, as expected. Very well located for a trip into the city, though.
Nice level place to park up for a night or two - there were many places to park around 18h on a Monday.
The place is okay, but I was woken by the police at 4 a.m. and had to show my papers. They wanted to look inside my car, then drove on. It is also quite noisy because of the road and young people hanging around the parking area until late at night and doing graffiti.
We arrived in the evening and there were still quite a few spaces left. The parking area filled up very quickly the next morning! Very quiet night, especially for a parking area in the middle of the city. Ideal location, right next to the tram, which takes you to the city centre in about 20 minutes!
I would say a bit tricky for large vehicles. Narrow path with tree brunches as obstacles.
Two nights without any problems! Plenty of spaces after 5 p.m., full during the day. No cameras or public lighting, but fairly safe. Narrow street, beware.
Free parking for day and night. We parked here while walking to center, felt very safe with lot of people passing around during the day. Close also to metro station (2euro/day). Entrance and exit kinda narrow, with some trees very low, but anyway we managed passing with our 3m tall van :)
Plenty of parking space even on the weekend, we stayed from Friday to Sunday. The tram is right in front, in 15 minutes you are in the center. Lot of people walking dogs in the park next to it. Two downsides: close to a busy road and it’s a bit noisy, and if you have a tall vehicle (we are 3.10) the tree branches are very low and will scratch the car.
A good, free parking spot on the outskirts of Sofia. You can reach the centre in 20 minutes by tram 7 or 27 just across the road opposite the parking lot. There is a Starbucks and shopping centre 10 minutes by foot with free wifi. Our van was safe in the day and mostly quiet at night, although some disturbance from people playing music from their cars in the early hours.
A spacious free parking area. We did not spend the night there, but it is perfect for parking for free and getting to the city centre. Go to the main boulevard and take line 27, which takes you to Serdika or NDK, right in the centre (€4 for a daily public transport ticket). It is very popular; we found space during the week, but the weekend may be more difficult.
