Mountain parking, access barriers

Quiet and cool night, superb hikes, scenery stretching as far as the eye can see. Don’t forget to go for a drink at the bar; friendly owner.

A lot of rubbish is left around this parking area. Please take your waste with you and respect the protected Massif Cantalien site.

What was a pleasant place for several years has lost its charm. Barriers have been installed everywhere, limiting access. On one side there are posts and wires; on the other, a height limit of 2.20 m. The Nature station at Col de Serre is now closed. Toilets, water access and the small restaurant are no longer available. What a shame that such a beautiful place is dying!

Beautiful parking area, but for how much longer...? A height-restricting barrier is being installed... Restaurant permanently closed, so there are no toilets or showers.

Quiet, flat place to spend the night. Shower €3 and toilets accessible during opening hours. The operators close on 31 August and there are currently no successors—what a shame! Otherwise, beautiful view and fairly quiet for the season, with hiking trails starting from the parking area.

Quiet and perfect place to spend the night and start the hike to Puy Mary (10 km round trip from the parking area). With a motorhome you cannot park any higher up.

Quiet area with a lovely view, including a beautiful viewpoint over Puy Mary and the valley. Convenient in summer for accessing the shuttles to Puy Mary, as parking is prohibited in July and August from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Superb spot; the view when you wake up is breathtaking. You can take a shower (€3) at the café-restaurant. There are also picnic tables available for everyone.

Pleasant parking area at this time of year, not perfectly flat but very convenient before heading up toward Pas de Peyrol and the hiking trailheads.

October 8. There are actually two spots: on one side a paved area, and on the other a natural gravel area. We stayed here after visiting Puy Mary. It is a perfect place to spend the night; busy during the day but wonderfully quiet in the evening, with perfect views just a few metres away.

Very beautiful place, quiet in the evening and at night, ideal starting point for hikes and a small shop right next door. Also spacious enough not to be packed together. I recommend it.

Very nice place to sleep and leave your vehicle if taking the shuttles to Lioran or Pas de Peyrol for a magnificent view of Puy Mary. Be careful, the shuttles stop on August 28. Several vehicles can park without any problem. There were at least 10 motorhomes when we stayed.

Tuesday: bad weather, we were almost alone. Wednesday: full with good weather. Quiet night, beautiful surroundings and lovely walks. From Col de Serre toward Puy Mary, motorhome traffic is prohibited from 10 a.m. to midnight. Shuttles to Pas de Peyrol every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., accepting dogs. One-way fare €1.50 per person; tickets sold on board.

Magnificent place. Shop with a very friendly welcome. Very quiet, except this night because of the musical entertainment at the Claux festival in the valley, which could be heard all the way up here. Nothing serious. A starry night in return.
