Waterfall parking, contaminated river

A beautiful, quiet site away from the road. The approach on the gravel track is good. The Rio Tinto River has a 5,000-year history of mining. Pyrite, copper and lead are the key words. Hence its toxic colours and unhealthy properties. But it is a fascinating and unexpected highlight of this tour for anyone interested in such topics.

If the sound of water bothers you, stay away. For everyone else, it is paradise. Easy to access, an extremely quiet night.

A gravel road leads there, but it is easy to access. The spot is flat, with a lovely view of the river and surrounding fields—magnificent. We slept very well, lulled by the sound of the water, and it was very quiet. A very good spot for the region!

Flat gravel spot. River below. We took the opportunity to get out our fishing rods, but a local warned us that the water was contaminated and that we absolutely must not touch it. Indeed, there were dead fish everywhere around. Be careful if you have dogs; ours brought back several carcasses of contaminated fish.

This is not a car park. La Palma has an area for spending the night.

Most beautiful spot. Service most of the time available. In January really nice and quiet.

Very beautiful view of a small waterfall on the Rio Tinto. At least for the campers who arrive first. Unfortunately, there were also several “white flags” right at the pitch. Please take your rubbish with you, or at least go to places where nobody else goes. Otherwise, little space and nothing special.

The spot is really small: two campers occupy the whole place, without much left for others. There is a sort of private club with loud music at -600m on one side and donkeys on the path... at -300m on the other side. The river looks more like a big mass of red mud. Despite all this, we stayed for the night because there was nothing else around... and the other campers really quiet! tks

Super beautiful place! Very quiet location. At night, only the sound of the waterfall. Occasional cars and tractors during the day. The access road is perfectly fine. Great location for walking too. (Excellent for dogs.) 4G network. It is somewhat farther away than the other spot.

Top spot, very calm night, the local Farmers wave back at us when they pass. Don't enter the path to fast because there are few bigger holes when you leave the main road. Really clean spot, keep it like this !

Beautiful place! But beware, it is dangerous: bulls with calves roam around here.

Good spot, quiet, with only a donkey braying and a few walkers! Slightly sloping, but I recommend it! Unfortunately for us, there was no little waterfall because the water level was very low—far too low!

Excellent spot! Super quiet with just the sound of the waterfall. We spent a great night and morning here.
