Avenue de la Plage, D82, 40660, Messanges
Been here?
Aire Camping-Car Park de Messanges sits directly behind the dune, less than 200m from the Atlantic, with access to the Vélodyssée cycle route. Stabilized pitches with 6A electricity, free Wi-Fi, and free toilets (no showers). The CAMPING-CAR PARK membership is €5 lifetime. However, pitches are narrow and crowding is common, and recent problems include non-functioning water, faulty electricity, and access barrier malfunctions.

The site is less than 200 meters from the sea, which is really great. This makes up for the somewhat narrow pitches, caused by the lack of discipline of others. The toilets are clean. To fill a jerrycan, you have to wait until people have finished showering with their garden hoses. But honestly, we had two perfectly good days and will come back despite all that.
It is not a great place to spend the night. Whether it is quiet depends somewhat on which neighbor you get, as the parking spaces are tight and you may be very close to your neighbor. There are better places in the area.
I was really looking forward to staying here, the reality fell well short of the photos and description shown. The area feels very overcrowded, with no sensible spacing between vehicles – many people are parking across multiple spaces. It felt cramped and uncomfortable during our stay, instead of the open, pleasant site CCP advertise. I’m really disappointed, as it wasn’t what we were expecting.
The spaces are small and people set up a complete campsite: fully extended awning, barbecue, clothesline, 4 surfboards, 4 bicycles, table, 4 chairs, 2 dogs, and so on. People shower with their shampoo and shower gel in the dump area, wash their dishes there, and then glare at you if you go to empty your tanks. The barrier not working unless you call and spend 10 minutes on the phone is probably just occasional.
Good location; be careful, it is often full in high season. Close to the beach with a restaurant. Messanges and Vieux Boucau are quickly accessible by bike via the greenway. Beautiful beach for watching the sunset and a good surfing spot.
Normal-sized spaces. We continue to have problems accessing the area with the card. Do not be misled: the toilets are not exclusive to the area; they are used by everyone accessing the beach, including vehicles over 2 meters that park outside. We have had them blocked at other sites before. So you pay €17 just to sleep, while there are campsites with pitches for €21.
++ Great location behind the dune, nice small size, clean toilets. All I need so I loved the place. -- Water service still not working, and since today the electricity is out too. They did come by to paint new white arrows on the tarmac earlier today... priorities?
The pitch is okay, but the site's electricity is malfunctioning. The barrier does not open; you have to call customer service to get in. The same happens when leaving. The water supply was broken, and several calls to customer service achieved nothing. Even after 2 days, nobody came... It could be better!
The area is in a fantastic location, loading and unloading is very convenient, and the village is a short walk or bike ride away. Quiet spot. The downside was that we spent a very long time getting in and out because the barrier was not working.
Positive: close to the beach and a restaurant. Negative: pitches are a little narrow and somewhat noisy.
Very beautiful location and very quiet at night. BUT BE CAREFUL!!!!! There is no water, not even for the toilet!!!! But you still have to pay!!!!
A very well-located area near the clean beach, with fairly large pitches, toilets, bins, and perfect water and dumping facilities.
Quiet and perfectly located area. Standard Camping-Car Park, pitches somewhat uneven but otherwise well planned. Messanges is much quieter than other places in the area: only one beach bar. We will return!
Beautiful, wind-protected location directly behind the large dune. All facilities worked perfectly. Good for walking the dog in the adjacent forest. Waste disposal is opposite.
Very pleasant at this time of year. Not overcrowded and quiet. Ideal for resting for 2 or 3 days, but remember to fill the fridge beforehand. The nearest bakery is 4 km away.
Great location if you want to spend the night right by the sea! Everything is available and the water supply is working again. The pitches are somewhat sloped in places, but the location more than makes up for it. Thank you for such a beautiful motorhome stop!
We like staying here. You would be hard-pressed to find the beach this close elsewhere. WIFI should be removed from the information because it is not actually available. Everything else works as described, and the site looks well maintained. There is a recycling point across the road.
Ideally located, very close to the beach.
You only need to arrive and see the immediate proximity to the beach to understand how exceptional the location is. Yes, the pitches may seem somewhat random, but the geographical situation more than compensates. You can fully enjoy the surroundings and direct access to the sea, making the stay truly privileged.
Great place and endless beach. Wi-Fi reception only near the entrance. WARNING, dog owners: pine processionary caterpillars are already present, posing a major danger to dogs.
Rare for CCP: clean, in good condition, and with operational services. Satisfactory value for money. Sanitary facilities, whether managed by the municipality or CCP, including one for people with reduced mobility, are also clean and maintained at the entrance.
Great CCP. All facilities. Bins across the road. Toilets near the entrance. 5 minute walk to the huge beach. Very quiet at night.
Four stars for the site's location. Via the Camping-Car Park app... Very quiet and close to the beach. Great hiking trails. Water and waste services available. No showers.
Good place, quiet, next to the beach.
one of my favourite places in France. long walks in the pine forest and back along the beach heaven. I tried to catch a beautiful young cat.. two trips.. she wouldn't come close enough. she likes cat biscuits and mackerel. I will go back again.
An ideal place if you like peace, sea, beach, and pine forests. We always enjoy coming back here. The site itself is basic, and almost every pitch has a slight slope. The entrance barrier often loses its Wi-Fi connection and therefore does not open. Simply call the hotline, which also speaks German, and the barrier will be opened.
Practical, clean place right by the beach. The pitches are sometimes quite narrow; from 7 meters in length, it gets tight. We enjoyed staying here and recommend the place!
We spent two nights there. Everything was fine. We were able to put out our table and chairs. The toilets were cleaned every morning by the municipality. Dogs are allowed on the beach in the low season, and there is a forest path right next to the site for walking them. Restaurant on the edge of the dune, very good, with a magnificent sunset.
Although well located, this area is only about making money. Everything is cramped, the pitches are not stabilized and are very short; a 7.5-meter motorhome barely fits lengthwise. If your internet provider is Free, be aware that you will have no connection. You need to leave the area toward the semaphore to get one bar of signal.
The place is not the best, but you are unbeatable close to the beach. However, if you are self-sufficient, there is not much to complain about. With vehicles over 7 meters, there is not much choice.
Pitches vary in size, so you have to be lucky to still have room for a chair and table. The toilet dump is inconvenient. The site generally needs some maintenance. But the location is unbeatable: the beach and sea are within walking distance and simply fantastic. Great cycle paths and many towns nearby! That earns it 3 stars.
Very quiet and clean place, very close to the beach, with water, electricity, and gray- and black-water dumping.
Everything as described; the water works perfectly. Very close to the beach. Although there is not much shade, the site is surrounded by trees and we found it comfortable.
For us it was fine for one night, but not somewhere to feel comfortable. Unfortunately, the fresh water does not work. On the positive side, there is a toilet and, across the road at the parking area, a place to dispose of rubbish. The path to the beach is cleared and it is not far.
Very well-located area, but the motorhomes are packed one against another with insufficient space. We are charged €15 even though we are parked like this. It is very excessive for the level of comfort. Motorhome user for 45 years.
Excellent location for one night, with a beautiful nearby town and good cycling routes. Directly by the lovely beach.
