80 Mühlental, 38855, Wernigerode
Been here?
Camping Alte Waldmühle is a grassy campsite in a valley beside a stream, with bus access to town and walks in the old town and Harz Mountains. The nearest bus stop is 2 min away, and a bus ticket is included in the tourist tax. Recent stays cost 70€ with a dog for 2 nights; the road is clearly audible, sanitary facilities are old but functional, and mobile reception and WLAN are very poor.

The site is close to the road, which is clearly audible. Sanitary facilities are old but functional. The restaurant is fine for a campsite, like all Vietnamese restaurants. Wi-Fi is practically nonexistent. Phone calls do not work at all. Clearly too expensive for what is offered. We paid €75 for two days with an 8-metre motorhome, without electricity, for two people.
We booked for two nights and left after just one, with squealing tyres. Communication was through Google Translate; the owners spoke little or no German or English. Arrival was unclear and the Wi-Fi/mobile reception was unbelievably poor. The whole campsite smelled of Chinese food. The sanitary facilities need improvement. The location itself was nice, but at this price improvements are definitely needed.
The colleague was very friendly. €70 for two nights with a dog. We stopped by spontaneously and got a pitch. Fine. The price is a little high everywhere these days—that's just how it is.
Relaxed site directly by the stream. Sanitary facilities are okay; renovations are planned from autumn, and they are needed. A bus ticket is included in the tourist tax, and the stop is only two minutes away. The owners are nice and friendly. Absolutely no mobile signal, but Wi-Fi is available throughout the site. The restaurant has reopened; we ate in town. €39 for one night including electricity, shower and tourist tax.
We were welcomed very warmly even though it was their day off. €32 for one motorhome and two people, plus €3.50 per person tourist tax, seems a little much for the services offered. There is no mobile signal at all, so you can only plan activities using the free reception Wi-Fi. It is cleaned, but the corners are rounded. This could be improved. On sunny Saturdays and Sundays, it is noisy because of motorcyclists.
The campsite is in a quiet location, but untidy and expensive. It feels as though you are not in Germany.
Nice motorhome site, well maintained. Three washing-up sinks. It is beside a road, which is acceptable. A car park lies adjacent, separated by a few trees, and it can sometimes be noisy. No mobile signal (Wi-Fi only at reception). Negative: the chemical-toilet disposal point is in the women's toilet, so it smells unpleasant. Few shelves in the shower room, and it is not particularly well maintained.
Very nice campsite. The sanitary facilities are dated, which would be fine, but €41 in the low season for one camper and two people is relatively expensive. Fine for two or three nights, though.
It is really nice for staying a few days. A flat rate is charged for water and electricity, so they can be used without restriction. The toilets and showers are in very nice, clean condition. Unfortunately, poor mobile reception, but Wi-Fi works very well at reception. The pitch is clean and well maintained. Also suitable for spontaneous arrivals.
We were passing through and only needed to use the service point for filling and emptying. We were warmly welcomed, and for €5 we could use the facilities.
The best site Wernigerode has to offer. Friendly welcome, quiet location on a meadow by the forest, with no pitches marked out. Yes, it is dated, but wonderful for one night. And cheap! However, there is neither Wi-Fi nor mobile reception. Fortunately, we had music, books and films downloaded for our solo trip.
It is pleasantly located, but everything is showing its age. Friendly welcome, and the sanitary facilities are clean. The men's showers resemble barracks, with everything open. No black-water disposal; for grey water there is only a small drain, so you have to aim carefully. Only E-network mobile reception, no Wi-Fi—practically a dead zone. Therefore only three stars.
Friendly reception when we arrived, uncomplicated stay and great location to take the trip to the Brocken. Bus service right outside the gate, fee included in tourist tax. Toilets are clean. Perfect place to relax and discover the Harz region. We will be back
Very well-maintained site, cosy, not overcrowded, incredibly friendly owner, everything you need, clean sanitary facilities. We felt completely comfortable and will gladly come again. Markus and Sabrina.
We spent two lovely, quiet nights here; friendly operator and ideal location for hiking or mountain-bike tours. A sports hotel nearby offers breakfast and dinner. Good value for money; sanitary facilities satisfactory. Anyone who prefers peace and nature will feel at home here.
I can largely confirm EtruscoNVP's comment. However, I did not find the sanitary facilities particularly good. There is only one shower in a cubicle in the men's area, and its water runs into the others. There were no shelves. The two toilets in the washroom are also oddly placed, especially since there is a separate toilet room. There is no washing machine.
Spacious, green site, sanitary facilities okay, dogs welcome. The only nuisance is the noisy main road. Absolutely no mobile reception; Wi-Fi only within 10 metres of reception. The restaurant is permanently closed.
Everything is wonderful. Quiet place. Clean and tidy. The owner communicated very well by email in English. We camped with a tent.
Everything is okay. The site on the outskirts of Wernigerode is orderly and has everything needed. Wi-Fi only at reception. We pay €28 per day without electricity. The owner is very friendly and uncomplicated. Sanitary facilities okay, but certainly in need of improvement in the medium term.
A bit old school but clean, quiet and with reasonable price. we paid 20€ for both of us and our van, without electricity (shower included in the price)
We spent one night here in our mini camper. On arrival, we could choose any pitch on the wonderfully large meadow. Water and electricity are available. The sanitary facilities are very clean. Wi-Fi is also available. Everything you need is here. There are countless opportunities for excursions in the area. The staff on site are exceptionally nice—worth mentioning. Five stars.
Very nice large meadow site. Sanitary facilities always clean, and the women's shower room is attractively arranged. €28 for two adults including tourist tax is acceptable. The operator is a nice man from East Frisia. We are happy to come again.
