1 Bis Esp du 8 Mai 1945, 17100, Saintes
Been here?
A large parking area close to Saintes city centre, with no services. The quieter inner section is farther from the road and may be suitable for a less noisy night, although recent reports mention an unsettled atmosphere at times. Access is currently via Cours Charles De Gaulle, with height barriers at the other entrances and a barrier also reported at this access. The site is convenient for visiting the town on foot.

Height barriers, even via Charles de Gaulle access.
Access is via Cr Charles De Gaulle, first left after the roundabout. Height barriers on other entrances.
Height barrier in place, probably for the summer season.
on the day I visited the barriers were open to visit the town. I only moved to the Hypermarket after I noticed the fair starting to pack up and move.
We parked here to visit the town. Very well located at this time of year, as the height barriers were not in place, and Leclerc was a two-minute walk away. However, in the evening it did not feel reassuring for us, with drunk people in the parking lot and others spinning their tires, so we preferred to leave and find somewhere quieter. Very large parking lot.
No barriers at the moment due to the Christmas festivities and fairground people being set up.
Exactly, one barrier is in place even during the off-season.
Barriers measuring 2.10 meters were in place on December 21, 2024!
A nice-looking spot that is better than it seems! Choose a place on the right, bordering a park and the banks of the Charente just beyond. Follow them and you arrive directly at the cathedral. Do not miss the musical 3D sound tour at the Abbaye aux Dames—a technical marvel that delights both the ears and the eyes!
The entrance by the swimming pool was open, so there was no height restriction. There is also a toilet there. The town and all points of interest were easily reachable on foot for us.
Large parking lot full of potholes, open during winter; otherwise, a 2.1-meter barrier is in place during the summer season. Well located, two minutes from the town center and close to a Leclerc supermarket. Several walks are available along the Charente. Thank you to the municipality for leaving it open for motorhome travelers.
Great for visiting the city. One area has a height restriction, but another does not, so it is possible to enter. Free. Less than five minutes from the tourist office, which is signposted. I am not sure about sleeping there because of the surrounding atmosphere. It is also worth visiting the municipal campsite: good price and all services, including a swimming pool.
We spent the night here the night before last. It is a huge parking lot with lots of free space. In the morning, we visited the highlights of Saintes by following the green line on the ground. There is a pleasant riverside walk into town, which is very close. We had a peaceful night without problems.
Large open area for parking. It has a height limit, although the barriers were removed when we entered. It is worth going there to see whether entry is possible.
massive car park next to public gardens, accessed by a side road next to adjoining car park. plenty of room for motorhomes. Great for a day visit. Easy access to town, look out for green line which will lead you on a tour of the town by foot.
Height barriers have been put back in place for an indefinite period.
