Old Rail Trail Greenway, N91 F856, Streamstown
Been here?
This clean, quiet car park lies beside the Old Rail Trail Greenway, with a playground, outdoor fitness area, toilets and picnic tables. Overnight stays are currently allowed, and parking is free, although one vehicle recently disturbed an overnight stay at 7 am. Jack's café serves hot food and fresh coffee from 8.30 to around 5.30 at weekends, but is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Fresh water is available for small bottles, but there is no chemical-toilet disposal.

Great place. We stayed overnight the only van. But a car arrived at 7 am and continuously reversed and drive back and forth round the van Disappeared before walkers arrived Video taken. . Bizarre spoilt our visit
Stayed the night with no issues. Made sure we parked out of the way since it is a public amenity and entry to the excellent railway line, now smooth tarmac the whole way.
A quiet, great place to linger. Great playground, outdoor fitness area and the Old Rail Trail Greenway directly adjacent. You absolutely must visit Jack’s Spot. We enjoyed a very tasty dinner and breakfast in the morning. No chemical-toilet disposal. The navigation system shows the access incorrectly. It is at the narrow point of the road, directly by the bridge.
Very nice setting. Playground, Coffee shop, toilets. Beside an excellent greenway linking to mullingar (east) and moate and athlone (west) They are developing an adult exercise are which is due to open by year end. There is a country pub just a 5min walk to the north. And it's all free. Pls support the cafe and keep the amenities clean.
This is a simple car park, but clean and quiet and has a toilet that is open overnight (as long as the users look after it). there is a Café (Jack's spot) in the same car park with hot food & fresh coffee and opens at 8.30, closes around 5.30 at weekends. There is fresh water for filling small bottles, but no "camper" facilities. It is free though, safe, quiet and clean. Perfect spot.
The peace and quiet, the cycle path along the edge, magnificent toilets, a superb children’s playground, picnic tables and a drinking-water station. There is also a container where you can repair bicycles, but it was closed today. A stopover just the way we like them
very good place to park. clean very quiet. unfortunately the cafe is closed Tues and Wed. Nice walk along the greenway. Great long zipwire in the playground that the kids loved. you might literally bottom out on it if you are an adult. more of these setups in Ireland would be great
A nice quiet spot. Wake up in the morning and have something tasty at Jack’s Spot. They ask people to treat the toilet facilities properly, otherwise they will have to close them at night. Great place!
Since opening in 2023, rules changed from overnight stay OK + toilet open, to overnight stay ok + toilets closed due to abuse of facilities, to (inevitably) overnight stays banned, and now overnight stay ok and toilet open again. It's a precarious situation so protect it! There's a sign in toilets warning they will be locked again if people don't respect the facilities!
Great spot, right on the greenway, toilets, and a cafe. nice and quiet at night. no signs
nice quiet spot, definitely visit the lovely Jack's cafe .
A very nice place. Recently expanded and now with four larger spaces as well. Toilet available with hot water, at least until someone ruins this opportunity, even when the café is closed. Quiet and peaceful, with great opportunities for cycling along the old railway line, which has been paved as a walking trail. Some traffic from friendly local people using the trail. You feel very welcome here. Five minutes’ walk to a pub.
Great place to sleep, toilets open, no fees, café open from 9:00 to 17:30. You can spend one or more relaxing nights here.
Spent one night here: quiet, idyllic and super relaxing. We were woken by birdsong and then got pastries and coffee at the café. The toilets were open throughout the night. If you do not need any other services, this is the right place. Perfect for one night for us.
Lovely spot for a stopover. Right on the greenway with toilets and a coffee shop, open Thursday to Monday. Staff were very friendly and there was no problem stopping overnight.
