Free parking about 2km from the lake with a nice woodland walk. We got here just before 8am and it was relatively “full” us and 3 other vehicles filled the rest of the spaces. A few people parked really poorly meaning there was less space to park here, there could have been at least 4 more spaces had they not parked the way they did but, still if you can get in it’s the only free parking.

We passed through the barrier at 8 a.m. without paying and stayed in the parking area all day without any problems. When we arrived in the morning, there was another car, and when we returned from the hike, the parking area was fairly full, with about six other cars. It takes 30–40 minutes to walk to Lake Braies. After the hike, you can also sit and relax beautifully by the stream here.✦Translating

Overnight stays are prohibited, but it is perfect for visiting Lake Braies. We arrived around 10 a.m. and there were two of us. Free parking. You can take a lovely hike from the parking area to the lake and around it—11 km with 340 m of elevation gain. You can take a slightly different path there and back, giving you a view of the lake from above. I recommend it!✦Translating

You do not need to pay to access this parking area. Very few spaces are available, so arrive early; I arrived around 9 a.m. and was first. Probably one of the only free parking areas nearby. Only 30 minutes on foot from the lake. However, parking is prohibited here from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.✦Translating

Ideal for seeing the lake: after crossing the river, the trail through the forest takes about 30 minutes on foot.✦Translating

Today (Oct 1st) we didn’t have to pay any “toll” when arriving around 3pm, maybe off-season? To be confirmed. Free parking, perfect to hike up to Lago di Braies, about 30mn walk with 120m elevation gain in the woods.

Excellent place to reach Lake Braies on a refreshing walk, with some uphill sections. Prohibited from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. It is better to park properly “in parallel” so everyone can fit. It is opposite a garage for snowplows. It is also free, and that is a treasure in the Dolomites! :-D✦Translating

Perfect for leaving your vehicle for free! To get to Lake Braies, take the bus; the stop is a five-minute walk away at the church, or farther up the road. Note that from July 10 to September 10, you must reserve the bus. Bus 442, €4 each way per person.✦Translating

Access to the lake site is at the very bottom of the valley. You have to take a ticket at the information point and say what you want to do with your vehicle. In our case it was €24 for the day with a 7-meter motorhome in parking area P1 at the bottom, with a free shuttle to the lake.✦Translating

Parking is free, but you can only park from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Campers apparently are not allowed. The lake is 2 km away. I walked to the lake along the road, which was not very safe because the road is narrow. On the way back, I found a path through the forest; it is on Google Maps. The lake is also overhyped. In reality, there is nothing particularly special about it. It is beautiful, but there is no wow factor. Still, it is worth visiting to relax, swim, and eat.✦Translating
