Paid parking, lake views

Excellent place for a stopover—calm, quiet, and peaceful. Sadly, there is not much of a view from the car park, but it is only a short walk, perhaps one or one and a half minutes, to the edge of the lake. It still costs £3 for two hours or £6 for ten hours as of July 18, 2026. I would definitely use it again.

This is a good overnight stop. crafty that it's £6 for 10 hours as for many that doesn't cover a natural nights park up hence 4 instead of 5 stars We wanted longer so even at a cost of £12 still fair value for money on the Lakeside in high season nearly dropped another star as went to buy one of the delicious looking ice creams at 4pm and it was SHUT disaster!!!

Beautiful park up right next to the lake, lovely views and a calm part of Windermere. Very quiet spots on overflow parking at back of aquarium, no view. 10 hrs parking ticket a little tricky to do, can't seem to do longer time, just have to renew.

Stopped here while exploring the area rather than staying at the hotel. Handy parking right by the lake — £3 for 3 hours or £6 for 10 hours. Great little stop for stretching your legs, grabbing a drink, or taking in the views around Windermere.

Spent one night here. Parked in the rear car park and was very quiet and a few other vans around. Toilets are found on the station platform. Spot on location for an overnight stay

Great location here at the bottom of Windermere with a very nice cafe, steam train and lake views etc. Saw this a few months ago on Nemo’s (he of the fabulous orange van) YouTube channel and I was looking for a location en-route from the Lake District to the Yorkshire Dales. It’s now £6 for 10 hours so I paid at the kiosk £12 as I arrived very early. Toilets clean and open all night. Recommended.

First stop in the Lake District and loved it. Stayed for two nights at the front car park directly at the lake - no one complained (my van is small). With something larger, you want to go to the second car park behind the station. Weird payment system with the 10 hours which usually expired at 4am - I just paid more when I got up at 730am and all was fine. Can highly recommend - thank you!

Great little park up - lovely views from the main car park next to the hotel, but we moved to the rear carpark overnight. There were 3 other vans. Toilets very clean open all night. Bought 2 x £5 tickets for the night from the kiosk. Very quiet until the workers arrived around 7am (no problem for us as we were awake by 6). #leave no trace.

Our second time here and it is one of the jewels in UK vanlife. Dark skies and stunning views at sunrise. 24 hour heated and clean toilets. Between the 2 car parks there are about four overnight campers all well dispersed.

stayed here on 17.01.26, toilets, cafe, walks, nice little aquarium and ferries to other parts of the lake for site seeing, all in all a great sat/sun outing, £5 for 10 hours, felt quite secure as there were other campers parked up, also next to a hotel, we didn't go in but I assume you could go in and eat if you wished

This is a lovely park up with level parking, also It’s quiet. There are plenty of spaces for camper vans, but you do have to pay to stay, the paying hours are unusual. There is a lovely hotel we had drinks in, quite reasonable prices.

What a place to wake up to on Xmas day! Heated toilets open all night. Minimal wind and super quiet with only a few campers. Worth the money

Fantastic park up. Toilets open all night and bar less than 5 minutes walk away. Quite night with only the hoot of an owl. Highly recommend.

Just had 2 nights here £25 parked behind the Aquarium loads of room. Toilets open 24 hrs found an outside tap on the men’s side of toilet block which I was able to fill my Aquaroll from but waited until after they closed. Felt safe as there was 4 MH on first night and more on the second really quite except for the Owl. Definitely will come back here

Stayed here for 2 nights mid August. Was very peaceful and great location.

I stayed here a few weeks ago in my roof tent .it was so nice to be able to pull up and have a little walk at the side of the lake,use the toilets and grab a drink in the hotel near by. (always try to buy local). yes the back car park has no view but soon as I woke I was of out exploring so this was the perfect overnight stay. going to be heading back in a few weeks.

Good spot for arriving into the Lake District. Quiet and safe, few other campers around. Clean toilets open all night and water tap next to them. £5 for 10 hours was extremely reasonable and the views over the lake are beautiful. I had dinner with the view but parked up for the night in the back car park.

Ideal for a night's sleep. Parked out of the way of the busier parking for the boats and aquarium, there's plenty of space here for larger motorhomes, although you might have to share the space with parked touring cars and such. Lovely short walk down the train tracks, easy access to the ferry and station where there are 24h toilets. Simple but sufficient.

Good big space, very quiet area no noise. Paid £5 for 10 hours. Toilets are open 24hour they are at the other side of the railway track.

Considering the location of this place to be able to park up here is a treat in itself. £5 for 10 hours is a bargain too. There’s toilets which are open all night on the train/ferry platform that are nice and clean. We parked right at the back out of the way of the crowded ferry and aquarium crowds. Nice and quiet at night.

Great find. There’s toilets and it’s quiet. £5 for 10hrs. We arrived at 11pm and had no problem finding a space. Felt safe too. Watch out for the fighter jets flying overhead at 8am- amazing to see and VERY loud .

Nice park up, stayed in the back car park and it was nice and quiet with some nice walks in the area, toilets on site and I would definitely stop here again.

Peaceful and spacious car park, £5 for 10 hours, no restrictions/signage. Toilets open at night and clean, walk into woodland nearby.

Excellent stop over for the night. Safe and secure we had coffee in the hotel bar before bed and the next morning we went in the aquarium with the kids: parking as £10 for 24 hours. Water and toilets provided but we had our own. Would definitely come again

Lovely spot with a cafe, shop and aquarium and incredible view however motorhomes have to park in the back carpark, with no view at all. We looked round for a bit then chose to find somewhere with a better view for us.

Saw a few people getting parking tickets so make sure you pay and display, £5 for 10 hours is really reasonable. Toilets are on the station platform , so if you park in 1st car park over looking the lake then you're really close, however that is the busiest area. We parked in the overspill car park, along with approx 6/7 other campers so was a little more peaceful until about 8am.

Parking allowing overnight stays with toilet facilities for £10. No lake view. To get the view, you have to park in the first section but leave before 9 a.m.

Stayed here for one night, it was £5 for 10 hours (overnight) and we were one of two campers. The view was beautiful. Toilets open 24 hours. Would stay here again! Couldn’t believe our luck.

We stayed here in our roof tent and thought it was a fantastic stop. We managed to get the end space right next to the lake which was fab for opening a roof tent up. There was a few campers and another roof tent there. The toilets were open all night and were decent. We would stop here again! We paid £5 for 10 hours and £3 for 2 hours.

Loads of spaces and friendly staff. £5 for 10 hours from the machine or you can pay for longer if you arrive while the booth is open. Clean toilets which are open all night. I'll be stopping here again.
