NA-140, 31680, Ochagavía
Been here?
This spacious riverside rest area has toilets, picnic tables, a barbecue and a natural basin for swimming. A recent stay found overnight parking possible, with little noise, and the area is about 600 m from Ochagavía and useful for visiting the Selva de Irati. It can fill quickly during the day, especially around the river.

No problem staying overnight, and the bathroom was open. We stayed for two days; it is a good place to sleep and visit the Irati Forest. Little noise and plenty of space.Translating
Good for spending a few hours if you find a spot, and for cooling off in the river. We arrived at 2:30 p.m. and parked without any problem, but it filled up shortly afterward. Even so, I recommend it.Translating
600 m from Ochagavía. A walk along the road. Perfect for visiting the village, because parking there is impossible.Translating
Parking prohibited from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. There is a sign indicating this. 100 m farther on, on the gravel, parking and overnight stays are allowed.Translating
According to what we were told at the tourist office, this is a parking area for spending the day at the pools and picnic area, and you can walk to the village. To stay overnight, you should use the gravel area a few meters farther on. In practice, there are vans spending the night in both places, and I don't think they will fine some people and not others.Translating
DAYTIME PARKING ONLY, as clearly stated in the title of the listing. Great for spending the day visiting the village and enjoying a swim in the river (ice-cold water with quite a lot of algae). I give it 3 stars because overnight stays are not allowed.Translating
Once we arrived in Ochagavía, there was a sign for a motorhome parking area 600 meters from the village next to some natural pools. There is a partly hidden sign in Basque stating: Parking prohibited from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Overnight stays are not allowed. In addition, the mayor calls the local police to record the license plates of vehicles parked during those hours and issue fines.Translating
We just spoke to the tourist office, and they told us that staying overnight is not allowed in front of the pool, BUT the empty gravel area next to it is authorized for overnight stays.Translating
A really lovely place to spend the day! Swimming in the spectacular river, a 10-minute walk to the village, and the village is charming!!! Overnight stays are not allowed. The signage is unclear, or rather contradictory... which leads you to believe you can stay overnight, only to find that at 11 p.m. you must leave because of a possible fine from the local council!Translating
The council is focused on raising money. They had all day to warn that overnight stays were prohibited, and after the Civil Guard had passed several times, they waited until people went to bed to collect money. I regret the money I spent in the local businesses.Translating
Last night, on the council's orders, the police informed us that overnight stays are prohibited, even though the municipal signs are contradictory. This happened at 10:30 p.m., when families had put their children to bed and people were too tired to drive somewhere else. I recommend not staying overnight until they regulate the area.Translating
Overnight stays prohibited. At the entrance to the village, it indicates motorhome parking 600 m away, with no prohibition mentioned, but you cannot spend the night. The police came at 10:30 p.m., saying the mayor had ordered them to clear the area and issue fines. Families with sleeping children, some people who had had their beer or wine... We do not recommend coming here, and especially do not recommend spending a single euro in the village. Thanks, Mayor.Translating
Overnight stays are not allowed. You can stay only from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; after that, they issue fines. We had to leave late at night because they started handing out fines. There was a lot of noise in the picnic area until quite late.Translating
Overnight stays prohibited. The police told us that from 11:00 p.m. they record license plates and the council issues fines. We left before 11:00 p.m. to avoid problems. Do not come here to stay overnight; this village is awful. They don't allow it anywhere.Translating

Great!! We spent a very peaceful night. Besides the overnight parking spaces, you can park right next to them. Even though it is right beside the road, there was no noise at night. The barbecues are closed, but there is a fountain, picnic tables, and a natural pool for swimming. We will definitely come back.Translating
