Been here?
Á Giljanes is the only campsite on Vágar, with space for about 4 or 5 motorhomes, vans and tents beside the hostel. Hostel facilities, including electricity and bath towels, are included and shared with campers. The camping area is a small, sloping asphalt area beside an auto workshop, separated from the sea by a road toward an industrial area with little traffic. Facilities are dated but generally clean, and online reservation is unavailable, so arriving early is advised.

Exactly what I am looking for for my van. A space for four or five motorhomes facing the sea, with all the youth hostel services freely accessible. For the Faroe Islands, the price is really not high. Online reservations are not possible. Arrive early to make sure you get a place. This is the only campsite on Vágar.Translating
Unfortunately, the only option on Vágar for motorhome campers. Not particularly great: a sloping asphalt area next to a car repair shop. Friendly staff.Translating
Great place. The owner is very friendly. There are four or five spaces for motorhomes, spaces for vans and tents, as well as the youth hostel. Everything is included, from electricity to bath towels. The kitchen area is quite large.Translating
Very friendly operator, everything tip-top. Sharing the site with a hostel did not bother us; on the contrary, everyone was very friendly.Translating
Excellent welcome! Everything you need is available, and the atmosphere with the youth hostel is really nice. Great encounters are to be expected!Translating
The view is not quite as good; although it is very close to the sea, a road to the industrial area separates it from the coast, with hardly any traffic. The operator is super friendly. Everything is hassle-free!Translating
Facilities are dated, but were clean and tidy. Is a mix of hostel and camping, so a real mix of people. Kristian (sorry if I’ve spelt that wrong) absolutely great and welcoming, worth staying there just because of his customer service, plus the helpful volunteer, (didn’t catch her name)
Incredible campsite! It is worth spending a night there just for the experience! The common room is full of life in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the facilities were impeccable. Highly recommended!Translating
Very nice owner, only a few pitches, but with a view. Showers clean and hot. We reserved by phone, and a pitch was kept free as expected. The campsite shares facilities with a hostel.Translating
Tip-top—super-friendly operator; call him after arriving—the number is posted on the hostel noticeboard. It is understandable that the “chaos” does not appeal to everyone. We thought it was fantastic ;)Translating
The camping area is certainly small, but the common room is large, well equipped, and very clean. The same applies to the sanitary facilities. The owner is present, active, and helpful.Translating
Looks horrible. Friendly owner though! Skipped and went somewhere else.
You should know that this is a mix of campsite and hostel—something that mainly appeals to people who enjoy this type of accommodation. It was not a problem for us, as I used to travel with a tent and backpack myself and therefore know the atmosphere well. In the evening, the site becomes quite busy.Translating
Great place and good location with beautiful views of the sea. Clean sanitary facilities and very friendly and helpful owner. Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it here.
There is no choice; it is the only campsite. The campsite itself is very average because it is in an industrial area, but Kristian is very nice. The common room is very pleasant and kept extremely clean by Kristian.Translating
We stayed here for three nights to explore the island. Everything was fine, and the atmosphere has already been described in detail. Very friendly and uncomplicated host.Translating
Very special. Anyone looking for a shared-house atmosphere is in the right place here. The operator, Christian, does everything to keep his guests happy.Translating
We were given a very warm welcome. The kitchen and living room are pleasant. The sanitary facilities are clean. We were the only van; everyone else was staying at the youth hostel.Translating
I cannot understand the bad reviews. It is a site with a shower, toilets, a kitchen, and a cozy living room! At a campsite you would pay well over 100 DKK for that.Translating
We enjoyed staying here twice. Yes, it is a parking area, but for 100 kroner you get everything: six toilets, four showers, two washing machines/dryers, three kitchenettes, a warm living room, nice people, fast internet, and more. We had previously spent three weeks in Iceland, and only people who have not yet been to Iceland complain here. :-) The “scrap bus” is fully converted and serves as accommodation for €33 per night.Translating
Terrible place. It's crazy overcrowded and very noisy. Everything is run down. Do yourself a favour and stay away.
Very beautiful view. A place to spend one night, but the services are poor quality.Translating
