Anton-Dohrn-Weg, 26389, Wilhelmshaven
Been here?
This small parking area lies directly behind the Jade Bay dike and is suitable for a quiet overnight stop in a small camper or van. The ground is uneven and partly unpaved, with low branches, while the area is sheltered by trees. A lake with a sandy beach is about 500m away, and toilets and showers are available farther on near the pool. Mosquitoes have been a serious nuisance at times.

Stayed here free for one night. Reasonably quiet, just before the “camping prohibited” sign and outside the parking restrictions. Completely legal. It is a paved area where people seem to dump garden waste in the bushes. Nice and shady, with toilets and showers a little farther away by the swimming pool. From here we cycled to the Kriegsmarine Museum. Completely fine. Be aware of mosquitoes around sunset.
Great for one night. We had no problems and could walk the dog along the dike (no prohibition signs). Dogs and camping are prohibited toward the sea. The sign is about 10–15 m from the parking area toward the sea. I assumed it meant camping directly by the sea.
Those who can read have a clear advantage; as stated in the description, this is not a place for large motorhomes. With a relaxed camper car, you can spend a quiet night here. Friendly walkers in the morning, few cars on the road, otherwise absolute peace and a lovely atmosphere. Depending on your desired comfort and privacy, you could even shower at the adjacent lake (outdoor shower at the beach house).
This place is a real insider tip. We felt as if we were in the jungle, five minutes from the Naval Museum in Wilhelmshaven. Sheltered under trees, with the Jade Bay dike in front. A lake with a sandy beach for swimming and a beach club is 500 m behind us. We loved it for one night despite the mosquitoes.
Good place. We were there at the beginning of August. Fairly quiet at night, somewhat busy during the day but okay. We spent one night here comfortably with a roof tent and dogs.
This place is wonderfully suited for one night. Cars occasionally drive past, but they are not disturbing. Under the trees it is lovely and sheltered. Really cozy and highly recommended.
Small parking area directly behind the dike. We spent a quiet night; the mosquito infestation described by others was limited for us.
Beautiful and quiet for an overnight stay. Protected from wind and noise. Perfect for one night.
Low-hanging branches and severe unevenness in the ground. Unpaved surface. Only a small van can fit here.
Huge mosquito infestation, not recommended.
Excellent location, but the mosquitoes are unfortunately unbearable.
The location is excellent between Jade Bay and Banter Lake, both reachable on foot in five minutes. However, there was a veritable mosquito infestation when we stayed there. That is why we left again after one night. A water point is about 500 m away, with toilets (closed in the evening and at night) and cold showers.
Small place directly in front of the dike. Completely fine for one night. There is room for more than just small vans.
Quiet parking area outside Wilhelmshaven, directly by the dike. In 45 minutes you can reach the main promenade, admire the navy ships, and take a pleasant walk around the harbor basin.
