Unnamed Road, IV20 1RD, Tain
Been here?
This is a flat car park at the end of a narrow, winding and bumpy road, with vans parking lengthways beside the gorse hedgerow. It is quiet and peaceful but exposed to strong wind, with little shelter. The council requests a donation, and bins are available at both ends, but there are no other facilities. A lighthouse and cliff-top walks are nearby, with fishing possible from the cliffs.

Beautiful area, a short walk to the lighthouse.
Very pleasant, level parking area surrounded by magnificent scenery, so you don't have to go far to enjoy a superb setting for dinner! Extremely windy, however; if you're in a rooftop tent like us, it's noisy!
Great quite location, really friendly locals that check on the site aswell as a highland ranger - we had a dog who got to run around and explore! Definitely a little hidden gem! Only a donation needed to stay
A really beautiful and quiet place at the end of the world. Please leave it clean so it can remain available. It is not recommended during storms or strong winds. You can fish from the cliffs right by the parking area.
Quiet spot loads of room for parking bins at either end no facilities
Pretty windy as there’s very little shelter, but peaceful and quiet, and the start to a great cliff top walk.
Perfect stay, absolutely quiet and lonely. The road is fine also in the dark. We had a foggy morning without any wind.
Quiet and peaceful! A lovely morning walk by the lighthouse just steps away with amazing views of the sea and coastline. The only negative (if you’re not a confident driver) is that the road leading to the lighthouse is pitch black, winding, and bumpy. So best to arrive before dark probably!
we were wondering where to go for a run out and this is only 2 hours down the road. well worth it, even the visit in the evening to remind us about the donation, brilliant walk both ways just remember to keep dogs on the lead so they don't jump off the edge although they can run around the carpark
Perfect little spot. 5 van here this evening early September. Derek from the community council popped up around 5pm to greet new vans & give them an information leaflet about the lighthouse. He asked to please leave change in the honestly box for your stay rather than use the QR code as it takes a % of what is donated.
Just perfect! No noise at night!!! There were five motorhomes… note: get up early to see the sunrise! It is breathtaking.
We spent the night here, a very quiet, peaceful place surrounded by greenery. There were two vans. Bins are available for rubbish. It feels very safe. Recommended.
Great overnight stop, lovely walks around lighthouse and can let dogs off when we were there, no rabbits! Can get a few vans on car park and luckily when we were there all were courteous and left space between. Please use honesty box to keep places like this going.
Very nice spot in a small parking area at the end of the world. Clean place; let's try to keep it clean, and donate to the honesty box. There were three vans here that night. Very quiet. Magnificent walk near the lighthouse. The only drawback: one night with quite a lot of wind.
Nice little parking area near the lighthouse. Views of the water in three directions. Access to a small pebble beach and a beautiful path to the lighthouse. Free parking, with a request for a donation to the municipality.
Stunning place beautiful views there was a few midges about when we where there in early july but not that much of a problem there was one irresponsible dog owners just opening the door to there van and letting there dogs run around all over the place please keep your dogs on a lead !!!!
Amazing stop, fairly level parking, lots of coming and going in the day but still relatively quite. The scenery and wildlife here is amazing and the lighthouse is fantastic we didn’t want to leave. There are bins but no other services & an honestly box for the local council please donate where you can to keep this place beautiful
Beautiful and clean parking area with a great view. There is a donation box on the parking area, which you are welcome to use. Otherwise, parking is free.
What a beautiful place with many opportunities for walking and taking pictures. We stayed here with only one other camper and had a very quiet night. At first we were briefly shocked when someone came to our camper, but it was only the sheriff welcoming us warmly. A donation is a matter of course! Really great spot :)
Wow! We stayed here for one night and were completely overwhelmed. The scenery is a dream, almost impossible to put into words. The weather was perfect too. Leave a donation so this wonderful place can be preserved. I would love to give it 10 out of 5 stars. See for yourself!
Hi all, my wife and I stopped overnight at this location Friday 2nd May 2025. It’s a super spot with great views. No services as such apart from bins. Donations can be made online if you’d rather not put cash into honest box.:-)
Lovely spot to stay. Honesty box on site for coins. Short walk down to the lighthouse. The carpark can get very busy during the day. Bins on site for dog waste and litter only
Absolutely stunning place to stay the night! Several other vans and motorhomes stayed with us, bins on site. A lovely elderly man comes around every evening to ask for a small donation for the community, so they can keep the place clean. Also a honesty box on site. We had a lovely walk around the light house, watched the sunset and had a great nights sleep. Might be a bit windy though.
Great place, suitable for running with a dog. The lighthouse adds some atmosphere in the evening with its light. We were here with our 7.00 m motorhome. Access is probably more difficult for longer motorhomes, as the road is bordered by stone walls. Bins on site.
Perfect for a quiet night.
Absolutely stunning location, perfect for a one night stay. flat, hard surface and had bins. Quiet night stay.
