Les Plagnes, 05320, La Grave
Been here?
Gravel parking area above the village of Chazelet, with exceptional views of the Meije Glacier. It has three picnic tables, a small playground and space for campervans, though the ground is somewhat sloped and the road runs alongside. Toilets are 300m higher on the road, or 200m according to an older comment. Nights are generally quiet, but temperatures can be cold.

Plenty of space for motorhomes and campervans, with beautiful views of La Meije. Three picnic tables. Beside the village, above Chazelet. GPS probably will not take you exactly to the spot, but it is easy to find by following the upper edge of the village. The road is next to it, but the place is quiet.
Super quiet night with impressive views of the La Meije massif. Parking outside the village of Le Chazelet, towards the Plagnes ski slopes, beneath a chairlift, on slightly sloping gravel. There are picnic tables and a small playground.
Impressive views of La Meije. The spaces are beside the road and quite uneven, but the incredible views make up for everything.
Good starting point for a hike to Lac Noir and the Plateau d’Emparis. Climbing access at Les Ayes. Quiet and safe, with picnic benches. Toilets are 300 metres farther up the road.
Great spot, magnificent view of the mountains opposite, with room for two vans without any problem.
Beautiful view with picnic tables, but the ground is somewhat sloped.
Exceptional place, with no light pollution. Sloping ground. Access from the top of the village, towards the station. Viewpoint over La Meije. We were alone.
The view is certainly nice, but the place is just an ordinary parking area filled with dozens of motorhomes.
Magnificent view of the glacier. Close to the village but quiet. Toilets 200 metres higher up. There are picnic tables.
