Been here?
This is a quiet parking area beside a lake, reached by a short rough track, with a mostly flat space for several vehicles. There are no facilities or bins, so rubbish must be taken away. The spot is away from the lightly used road and offers beautiful views, although midges can be numerous in the morning. A ranger has visited and explained good overnight-stopping practices.

Quiet place by a lake. The access path is easy to descend. Flat area with enough space for four van-type vehicles. The very pleasant ranger reminded us of good overnight-stopping practices. Beware, there are many midges at wake-up time.
Sunday evening, 8:30 p.m. Pouring rain. A friendly ranger knocks and tells us we’re on private land. Respecting local customs — and already feeling like ex-cons thanks to CCTV, “No Overnight Parking” signs and poop fines — we moved on. 20 minutes later: door-to-door with other campers again. So much for me time.
Very good. Sufficiently far from the road, which is not very busy anyway!
Arrived about 7pm but already four campers and not much room for more. Seems like a popular spot but there are other pull ins along the road if this one is full up
What an idyllic little spot. Absolutely recommended! One of the most beautiful places we have visited. We were completely alone here. Super quiet, with little traffic, and the road can barely be heard. The slope was no problem for our 6.3 m campervan.
Dreamlike, directly by the lake. Space for several motorhomes of any size. You cannot hear the road, so it is perfect for a peaceful overnight stop. Perfect mobile reception, relatively level.
Perfect place. No facilities. Good 4G.
Stayed here last night, great stop, small rough track down to a flat area. no bins so please take any rubbish away with you.
Perfect place and we are 7m and no problem, one other van. Right on the waters edge and no road noise as you are way off the road. Woke to snow and very cold but very good night.
Magnificent free stop. Quiet, out of the wind, stunning location. One of the best stops on the NC500. Add to it Gairloch Golf Club (5ish miles down the road) with free black/grey waste and fresh water and everything is covered. You’ve gotta love Vanlife when it’s like this.
Very nice, amazing views, definitely recommended.
Great addition to Park4Night! Peaceful spot right by the water, away from the main road. The track is rocky, so take it slow, but after 50–100m you’ll find a beautiful, level place by the water. Not just for small campers — I got here fine with a 9.5m, 8t motorhome. Highly recommended, thanks to the one who shared it!
