A free overnight parking area reached by a small path beside the SNCF line, with spaces at the back away from fishermen. It is very quiet and close to walking and cycling paths, with occasional walkers, cyclists and joggers. Recent works may leave no space for larger vehicles, and it is generally more suitable for vans than motorhomes.

Very quiet location. I think you could also spend the night here, directly beside walking and cycling paths. Keep the place clean and drive on if it is already reasonably full, so that this location remains available.
Warning: we went there, but there is currently no space because construction work is underway. We have a 7.5-meter vehicle.
We spent a very quiet night here while passing through. Occasionally walkers, cyclists or joggers pass by. All of them were friendly and relaxed. Billy is also worth visiting for an evening stroll.
Suitable for vans but not motorhomes.
January 18, 2022: impeccable overnight stop, fairly quiet despite the road above, which was not bothersome. Located near the Allier.
