Ocean parking, overnight fines

Very close to the beach. Pleasant and quiet.

Beautiful place, but unfortunately prohibited; the GNR came by and issued a €120 fine, payable immediately.

At 6:45 a.m., the GNR came. Apparently the entire coastal area up to Viano do Castelo is Natura 2000. So there was a nationwide inspection and a fine. €120 lighter, we moved on. We investigated further: officially, this spot is just outside the Natura 2000 area. Even so, we had already received the fine and left. The parking area at Praia Arda seems legal; people stayed there for a week and a half without any problems.

Warning!!! If the road is flooded, stay on the paved section!!! I spent a quiet night there in early January after a recovery service pulled my van out of a deep puddle, possibly quicksand. The beach spot is accessible on foot via the beach and looked quite good.

Great spot, but do not expect to be alone. There were about six vans in early October, but plenty of space for everyone. People were very respectful, so everything went very well. No police visit; I think they do not intervene as long as you do not set up all your camping equipment. Close to the beach, very good for surfing!

The spot is great, but unfortunately, as so often happens, it is ruined by campers who put out tables, chairs and washing lines, even during the day. The GNR came in the morning and fined everyone. Rightly so if people behave like that. The beach is beautiful and there is a day-parking area.

We were driven away by the GNR and fined €30, payable directly.

Wonderful place. The beach, where the river flows into it, is also great for children. Like a small warm bathtub! Be sure to walk a little toward the forest and swing over the river. There are somehow a few waves for surfing in all conditions. It's magic :-)
