Hard-surface site, ongoing construction

A local resident here with a request to campers. This parking area is always very busy, but that is no reason to use the car park as a camping spot. It is especially needed on weekdays for employees to park and get to work. The toilets do not officially belong to the camper spot; they are public toilets nearby.

The camper spot is currently absolutely unacceptable. Construction work starts at 6:30 in the morning. Why isn’t the area simply closed during the renovation? Instead, the full €18 per day is still being charged—for a spot that is barely usable. It is simply outrageous.

Operating the site during ongoing construction while charging the same parking fee is unacceptable. For example, a wheel loader suddenly drives between motorhomes parked three metres apart and delivers pallets of paving stones, which are then cut with an angle grinder and laid just one metre behind the motorhome. Thanks, we left.

Large area with spacious parking bays. Ideal for visiting the old town. I also find charging the full price during construction work starting early in the morning somewhat inappropriate. For us it served its purpose, as we had an urgent errand and combined it with a stroll through the old town.

We were already shocked on arrival by the amount of rubbish in front of the site and the overflowing bins. The site itself is in complete disarray because of the extensive construction work. There are many electrical boxes and connections, but almost none of them work. And all this at the full price—we drove on.

Nice spot close to town. The toilets are public and closed between 10 p.m. and… They were open again shortly before 7 a.m. You have to walk a little to get to the toilet.

A good place to spend the night. Close to the beautiful city. Also good for cycling to the ship lift. The spaces are now marked. There is still construction work. It is a shame that the toilet cleaner does not work; the toilet is now being emptied into the grey-water drain. So, municipality or whoever owns the site, I would suggest repairing it.

Good camper spot near the city, with service facilities a few metres away. Renovation is currently underway—the previously criticised missing space markings have now been added. We did not stay overnight, so we cannot comment on the sanitary facilities. It was already busy at 1 p.m., possibly also with day visitors like us, so spaces may be available again in the evening.

Nice spot close to town. The toilets are tidy and are public toilets in the adjacent car park. A shower would be a dream.

I would give more stars, but the construction work and the resulting lack of service facilities, together with the full price, are incomprehensible.

Great parking area with electricity connections for motorhomes, next to the old town. Good value for money. Unfortunately, the parking spaces are not marked, although the site is being renovated at the same time. I felt my motorhome was well protected by the camper etiquette.

It is good that there is a camper spot. It is bad that there are no markings, so the few antisocial motorhome owners allocate themselves more space than is appropriate. Why doesn’t the municipality intervene?

Good camper spot for exploring the beautiful city of Lüneburg on foot. Unfortunately, it is heavily used, with unpleasant side effects caused by inconsiderate, sometimes reckless motorhome owners: rubbish, unleashed dogs—ours is always leashed—and failure to park economically.

A good spot in the immediate vicinity of the city centre, which is being expanded. Unfortunately, many campers behave selfishly because there are no marked pitches. They take generous amounts of space, put out their awnings, and then are pleased when vehicles have to leave because the area is full. We do not want to become like that, and they should be ashamed.

Construction noise at the moment, and already full at 1 p.m. The toilet apparently closes at 9 p.m. The camping toilet can only be emptied via a paid machine, which does not clean or empty it properly. A toilet dump point would be better. Otherwise, a good location!

The camper spot is excellently located right next to the beautiful old town. We spent one night here to attend the city festival in Lüneburg. Service facilities are available. The only drawback is the lack of markings.

Many motorhomes park as if this were a campsite! Markings are missing. Despite the construction work, the site is pleasant. Space markings are missing.

The price-performance ratio is right.

The site is actually quite nice if it weren’t for some selfish space hogs. Everything is spread out here as if it were a campsite! People, this is a camper spot/car park! Thanks for the lovely place, but unfortunately the spaces are not marked.

The spot is fairly well located and the old town can be reached very quickly. The disposal station is also fine. The only drawback is that the spaces are not marked, so some people have made themselves quite comfortable.

Very busy when we arrived around 16.00, there is construction going on with a few pitches closed, not helped by people with awnings and sunshades out blocking pitches too. We only got a spot because someone flagged us down and told us they were leaving in five mins. The toilet is a portaloo and some power bollards are also blocked off by building works. Get here early.

The place was about 80% full when we arrived at 2:30 pm, but there were no spaces. The twenty that might have been used was taken with people with their awning out or they strategically placed chairs or bicycles preventing you parking there. The neck of these people takes my breath away. What is wrong with them?

The spot is great. Everything a camper needs is available. Quiet at night. Fair price. Best of all, the attractive old town and the Salü thermal baths are just a few minutes’ walk away. Five stars.

A beautiful spot. The old town is 10–15 minutes away on foot. There is a fully automated toilet building. Very clean, and the toilet is automatically cleaned after every use. Excellent. €18 for 24 hours, with easy card payment. Large, busy site. Lüneburg is worth visiting.

A great, inexpensive site with electricity included in one of Germany’s most beautiful cities. Visiting the charming old town, with its very relaxed people, feels like travelling back to a time when city visits and exploration were still enjoyable and relaxing.

The site is okay overall. What is missing is clear marking of the spaces, and some visitors shamelessly exploit this. I have never seen such shameless users claim space for two motorhomes, with furniture and so on, even at night, as if this were a campsite. The city could add markings with little effort.

The price is fair for what is offered, provided you get a space with electricity. Ninety percent of the spaces have power. It is very full even in the low season.

It was great again! The disposal facility has been repaired and works again. We will gladly return. Lüneburg is a beautiful city!

Unfortunately, we did not feel comfortable here at all. The city cannot be blamed for other campers’ bad behaviour, but it was dirty and there was a music festival right next door. Lüneburg has changed very negatively. The price was okay.

For €18, you should be able to borrow a toilet cassette on site. The simple ground-level dump point was never broken, unlike today’s CamperClean machine. See photo. Therefore: never change a running system and keep it simple! That is why I deducted a point for this centrally located site.

Nice site with short distances to the city centre. There are plenty of power pedestals with various sockets. The toilet is clean and regularly cleaned.

€18 per 24 hours is just about acceptable for me, as I do not need electricity, although it is included in the price. The night was quiet, but construction work is currently taking place at the adjacent festival grounds, making the morning noisier. The old town is very easy to reach on foot. Water and waste services worked perfectly; I did not even try the toilet machine because of the negative reviews.

The city is easily accessible on foot; otherwise, much is lacking. The price is okay if you manage to get a space with electricity. Markings would be useful.

We stayed here over New Year’s Eve. The site looks well maintained. Waste disposal and water worked even in sub-zero temperatures. The beautiful old town is only a few minutes away. Many thanks to the city!

Super nice camper site on a paved area with more than 40 spaces. About 1 km to the cosy town centre with many shops. In December and November there is a really cosy Christmas market. Despite it being a busy fourth Sunday of Advent and the site being completely full, it was very quiet. We will return.

On December 11, the site was already packed; only the turning area was still free. In the following days that was also fully parked. But nobody cares. Parking is partly very generous and inconsiderate because there are no markings. This site must be very lucrative, as it is almost always quite full. Taking care of it would of course reduce the income.

We are staying here for two nights. The site is great but also completely full from Friday lunchtime. Electricity included. The grey-water drain and CamperClean work. €1 for 100 litres of fresh water. Toilets in the car park. Everything is excellent. Ten minutes’ walk to the old town.
