Unnamed Road, 335450, Geoagiu-Bai
Been here?
4x4 access only
Getting here needs an off-road vehicle. Check your ground clearance before setting off.
A remote parking place beside a radio tower, reached by a rocky, deeply washed-out track. The final 400-600m is currently suitable only for small 4x4 vehicles because the road is narrow and overgrown. Smaller off-road vehicles may reach it, with scratches possible, and the reward is a magnificent view. A generator near the antenna makes some noise.

Vegetation has overgrown and in the last 400-600m up to the top, the road is only accesibile to small 4x4. It's a no go for a big 4x4(van) or caravans towed by 4x4 as the road is very narrow and branches from the trees are all over the road. however, we camped overnight some 500m before the antenna relay, on a somewhat plain meadow. 45.938714,23.203337
Those who make it to the top are rewarded with a great view. We found the final 800 meters quite challenging. An off-road vehicle and some off-road experience are definitely advantageous, especially in rain. Better suited to smaller vehicles. You should be prepared for a few scratches. The transmitter mast’s air conditioning is audible, but it didn’t bother us. There is 4G, though.
Beautiful pitch with a fantastic view! One point deducted because the generator next to the antenna makes a constant noise. The approach is manageable with four-wheel drive, even for vans. When wet, however, you need a proper off-road vehicle and some experience!
