Rennsteigstraße is a large parking lot opposite a fire station and in front of a shooting range. There are no prohibition signs, and it can provide a basic overnight sleeping place, although shooting practice may be heard. The busy road is quiet at night but traffic increases from around 6:00, and an Edeka supermarket is nearby.

Good for a lunch break or parking the vehicle. But for staying overnight?? Really?? It is not prohibited, at least.
I spent a quiet night there. If you only need a place to sleep: excellent! Traffic starts building up around 6 a.m.
