Unpaved roadside place with a fantastic view, suitable for about 3 campers. It is free and lies a few hundred metres from the Gaustatoppen hiking start. A small river runs beside the parking area and can be used to fill a shower bag. There are no amenities, and the road is quiet in the evening.

Beautiful free spot along the road for about three campers. The view is fantastic and you can climb Gaustatoppen from here. The trail starts a few hundred metres away. A small stream runs alongside the car park and can be used to fill a shower bag or similar. We stayed two nights; you notice that you are right by the road, but it is quiet at night. The view makes up for everything!Translating
Beautiful location with incredible views. 500m from the Gaustatoppen trailhead. Free WC at Stavsro Carpark in front of the Tourist Information Hut. 2.5-3hr hike to the summit and similar back down. Four routes to choose from but only one from Stavsro. Parking now NOK200 until midnight. Waffles at the cafe on the summit if open.
We stayed in this parking lot during the day out of season and it was very quiet, and we we also felt very safe. We enjoyed a lot the view. We arrived around 8 AM and we easily got a place for our 23 feet long motorhome, we were the only ones there. It was also free of charge. There isn't just much to do locally but otherwise fine.
Great view, quiet road. Worth the climb!Translating
Top spot with a beautiful view! You can park slightly away from the road, so you are not right next to it. Quiet road in the evening. Two spaces farther on there is an information point with free toilets. Highly recommended before or after a hike to Gaustatoppen.Translating
A beautiful, relatively secluded spot, shared with four people from two other vehicles and some gentle but very curious sheep. The drive up lasts several kilometres and is sometimes quite steep, but manageable. Good road. Due to the altitude, it was cool to cold in the mornings and evenings on 4 August. A special place!Translating
Beautiful spot, directly beside the road but with a wonderful view!Translating
Place with fantastic views. Space for three vans. Vehicles pass during the day, but it is very quiet at night. In June it was 5°C at night and 9°C in the afternoon, so bring warm clothing. It was quite windy and even snowed a little. You can walk around a bit, but be careful because there are many puddles. It is better to head towards the paid car park for the trek.Translating
Despite being parked next to the road, which is not busy at night, the location is magical. Amazing views of the Alpine lake and lovely hikes nearby. Be aware that it gets very cold at night: 4–5°C at night in mid-July.Translating
A great gravel area directly by the lake. Views of the mountains and, a few metres across the grounds, a wonderful view of the lake. Hiking to Gaustatoppen from here is highly recommended. There is no toilet or similar facility, but a few metres downhill there is a paid car park where you can use the toilet.Translating
