1 Avenida João Antonio Gomes, 3360, Penacova
Been here?
The service area is currently affected by construction, and parking is not available because building materials block the spaces. You can empty the cassette and fill water with a long hose, but grey-water disposal is inaccessible. It is beside the fire station and generally safe, though access involves steep, narrow and turning streets that are difficult for large motorhomes.

Currently under construction and not fully available, but it is a safe area because the fire station is next door. You can only empty the toilet cassette; you can fill with water if you bring a long hose. You cannot empty grey water because construction materials prevent manoeuvring. Public toilets are open and fairly clean. Be careful: the GPS tries to trick you, so check the route carefully.
It deserves to exist, but grey-water disposal is inaccessible because of rubble. However, we were able to empty the black-water cassette and fill the tank.
Thanks to the municipality, but the area is difficult to find. It is right next to the fire station. Beware of large motorhomes—we have a 6 m vehicle—as the streets go up, down and turn frequently.
The area is accessible again. It is quiet, close to all shops and located in the centre of the village. It has all services except electricity. Perfect for spending one or two nights and visiting.
Service area exists but is closed due to construction. We parked and slept next to it. We did not dump anything or take on water, so we do not know whether it is working. The descent mentioned is not a problem for a 7 m motorhome up to 3,500 kg if taken carefully. We descended without problems.
Facilities work, but parking is not possible because there are rocks on the parking spaces. Pay attention to which road you take. I took the steep road with my van; it was fine, but I can imagine larger vehicles having problems with it.
Excellent free facility with, next to the waste-dumping and water-filling area, a toilet building. Pleasant market on Thursdays. The fire brigade and medical center are next door. Part of the space was being used to store materials intended for repairing storm damage from Kristin and future storms. Thank you, municipality!
Parking area with piles of stones that prevent parking; only the emptying and filling services are operational. Clean toilets. Use the adjacent parking area for parking.
It is now, as the signs state a road building store. The toilets and service facititeis all seem to work but parking is restricted. The large adjacent car park would probably suffice if needed but as the sign states, the Vila nova aire 15 minutes south is brilliant!
Unpaved but very quiet area with free emptying and filling services. We spent one night passing through from Coimbra toward the north.
Great free spot with facilities. lovely town . I wish they UK was so accommodating
Great area, I don't know what people complain about so much: four taps with plenty of pressure, bins, clean sinks, shade. I don't know what more you want!!!
Service station clearly poorly designed. The dumping area is narrow and not recommended for long vehicles (7 m). The services can be used, but with serious, unnecessary difficulties. It would be almost perfect if the service area were placed where the community compost bin is and the turning area were placed where the current service area is.
Not suitable for a 7.5-meter vehicle.
Terrible, really terrible. Two motorhomes from the same country, and otherwise there is nothing except mud. Come to empty and fill your tanks and get out quickly. In any case, I think they are going to remove it.
Convenient. Be sure to come via the lower streets; we arrived through Estre Mata, steep at first but manageable with a 7 m vehicle. The parking is not very attractive but functional. We recommend Jo's bifanas next to the town hall: very good, quick, and with a beautiful view. Top-notch.
Service area and parking without much charm. The view is not great, but everything is available for servicing the vehicle. You need strong legs to climb up to the village center. Warning: You must arrive from below! If necessary, add a waypoint at the junction below in your GPS.
arrived from below off n2 and followed signs for fire station. the cobbled road in the photo is a road coming down from the town which is steep but we didn't need to drive this way lovely place small but friendly giant fire station.Great views.Grey and black emptying fresh water and toilets. there is a sign saying construction but nobody was there and plenty of space in the car park next door
Area closed due to construction work.
Quiet motorhome stop, not suitable for larger vehicles. We parked in the adjacent car park. Follow the signs for the Bombeiros. Thank you.
I am spending the weekend here. Nice area; the public toilets are clean and a cleaner regularly cleans them. The services work, there is a bar three minutes away, a good town center with shops, and a Lidl. Quiet. I confirm that you should not take Santo Antonio Street; it is too steep downhill. Use first gear and keep your foot on the brake. I have attached a photo of the end of the street; the beginning is worse. Follow the route to the fire station.
Good place to spend the night, with clean toilets and a dumping area.
Good place to rest and prepare food. There are very well-maintained and clean toilets and services, which is appreciated. Thank you, Penacova.
We had a very good night's sleep with a view of the fire-fighting water tanks. However, the sanitary facilities were really not clean. What a shame.
Quiet large village, much appreciated after the difficult visit to Coimbra. Immaculate area with all services except electricity. Spotless toilets with toilet paper! We spent the night here. Congratulations to the municipality for maintaining this area.
Thanks to the reviews advising not to follow the sign but to approach the fire station from above. Otherwise, with our 7 m vehicle it would have been very complicated. Very quiet area, all services working, and shops nearby. Toilets regularly cleaned by a very kind woman. Many thanks for all this.
