Camping La Courtine

Very quiet campsite. Sanitary facilities a little outdated, but the shower water is very hot. The best thing is that we are only a five-minute walk from the Allier River, where you can swim. Very friendly owner. I love this campsite and will come back—it is pure happiness!✦Translating

Superb little campsite in the middle of the forest and five minutes' walk from the Allier. The owner is very friendly and seems to do what he can to maintain the area. The sanitary facilities are very clean and functional. I liked the small signs indicating what is inside without having to open every door! We will definitely return. For those of us looking for quiet places in nature, this was the perfect spot! We parked under a flowering century-old linden tree that smelled wonderful. The toilet area and dishwashing area are outdated but very clean, with very hot water in both. With only birdsong, it was enchanting for me.✦Translating

I was there on November 24, 2025, and the site was definitely “dead”: no one could be reached, nobody was at the site, and all sanitary facilities were shut down. I found no information on how to contact anyone. What a shame! The one-star rating applies only to the current unavailability, since this site is listed as open year-round.✦Translating

Campsite with electricity, shower, toilet, etc. Old-fashioned and in its original state, but so wonderful! No frills: €16 for one night with a bus, a teenager, and a dog. In a nature reserve with a river right next to it where we were able to swim. A real delight. Four stars because of the outdated facilities, but everything else makes it worthwhile.✦Translating

Nature is simple and beautiful at the same time. That is how I would describe this site as well. The site is largely untouched, and the facilities seem to blend into the natural surroundings. Fine, simple place. The grounds are slowly being taken over by nature. The elderly caretaker clearly has difficulty keeping everything maintained. The sanitary facilities are dated but clean, and the hot shower is lovely. Wonderful swimming in the river.✦Translating
