68 Via Strada Vecchia, 28802, Mergozzo
Been here?
A simple, free gravel parking area is within walking distance of Mergozzo and about 1 km from the lake. It is suitable for day or night parking, with no services and noticeable road noise. Access is from the main road, although low branches were reported to block passage for a 3 meters-high camper. A back path provides a quieter walk into the village.

Convenient, free, no-service pitch close to the town. Traffic from the road can be heard for much of the night. The path is useful so you do not have to reach the village by road.
Simple and convenient roadside parking on grass, a little noisy, 1 km from the lake.
Simple and free parking. Perfect for walking around Lake Mergozzo. Easy access from the main road; entering 57 Via Sempione as the address gets you there easily.
A small tip: the car park is large and directly on the main road—you do not need to take a detour. Sometimes the satnav shows the wrong route, but the place is not far from the lake and is easy to reach.
Especially on busy days in the region, you can find a safe place to spend the night here! Tip: follow the dirt track beside the car park to walk into town. That way you avoid the noisy road you would otherwise have to walk along.
We tried to access it, but the parking area is inaccessible with a 3-metre-high motorhome without pruning branches; the branches are too low along the entire length of the path.
We spent two nights here. There are occasional shaded spaces; the road is somewhat noisy but acceptable. The walk into town takes about 10 minutes. Beautiful town with many small side streets, cafés, restaurants and churches. We liked the town very much. We then moved to Camping Lago Delle Fate.
Stayed here overnight. Flat, gravel. Easy walk into the village without the stress of trying to find a space and free!. Tip... Do not turn off the main road if following sat nav. Entrance is on the main road, same as the payment one further up. Also to walk into town, Do take the back gravel path.. safe walk leading to a residential street and then the town (no pavement on main road).
Free parking. Plenty of space. Impossible to park in town. This is perfect. In a large California.
There is a paid parking area right next to it where you can empty the gray and black water for free. Go a few meters further and the free parking area is there. In April, we are the only van, 10 minutes on foot from the lake, peaceful—it's a great spot.
Unfortunately, it was quite noisy. Cars driving past race along the road until late at night, and unfortunately it starts again in the morning. We had to spend the night there because all the campsites were already closed.
Good place with nothing. Level, and quiet at night. A few meters further ahead, you can connect to electricity for a fee. Toilet and gray-water disposal are available free of charge in the parking area mentioned earlier. There are no mosquitoes here in October either. Free, legal place, good for 1–2 nights to explore Mergozzo and the surrounding area :)
Simple free parking a few minutes' walk from the charming village of Mergozzo. We stayed for two nights, taking pleasant walks and enjoying the local food. If you follow Maps, do not take Strada Vecchia on the right; continue for 100 meters on the provincial road and you will find the parking on the right. Opposite, in the paid parking area, the camper service for emptying tanks is free.
