Avenue du Général de Gaulle, 85200, Fontenay-le-Comte
Been here?
Twenty-space motorhome area near Fontenay-le-Comte town centre with large, spacious pitches and adjacent green space. As of July 2026, the site is free to stay overnight with electricity and water hookups included. Shops and restaurants within walking distance. Road-adjacent with some daytime traffic noise. The barrier system often malfunctions and phone assistance is frequently unresponsive. Ravens in surrounding trees cause early-morning and evening noise.

Hello everyone, from today, for an indefinite period while we find a new provider, the site is open to motorhomes free of charge for one or more days. You can even connect to electricity and fill your tank for free. Welcome to Fontenay-le-Comte to find peace and serenity.Translating
It's a car park, but a nice one, with good sized pitches and a beside a large open green space
We spent one night here to visit the Château de Terre-Neuve the next day. The crows in the trees surrounding the area are noisy, but once the doors are closed it is quiet. Free 5G is intermittent, and satellite reception depends on the pitch because the trees are very tall and block the signal. No problems entering or leaving.Translating
A great place to park up to do the tourist trail walk around the city. You can pay for a 5 hour stay or all day. But the system depends on a barrier which did not work when we wanted in and failed again when we wanted out. You have to telephone the number on signboard and speak in French to the operator. They answered quickly and can open it remotely. 1 star deducted for the poor barrier system.
Close to the beautiful town. Quiet. Do not be in a hurry to leave: the number provided at the entrance for exiting does not work, and neither of the two phone numbers displayed at the entrance answers. We called the town hall, which referred us to the municipal police to get someone from the town hall. We waited 30 minutes in total. The motorhome user before us had the same problem.Translating
Perfect for staying near the sports grounds and beside the Vendée River. Little traffic at night. The only drawback is a rookery in the nearby trees, whose cawing we enjoy early in the morning and late in the evening.Translating
We spent two nights here, close to the town and shops, but also close to a busy road, quieter at night. There are no bins in this area, so people leave their rubbish bags. We paid for water, but it did not work.Translating
Area near the town center and shops, beside a somewhat busy road during the day. The €11.50 fee does not include filling up with water.Translating
Beautiful, well-located, spacious area with large pitches... on arrival, the barrier was raised, so it was free for us on November 23. Thanks to the municipality. Nothing to add to the previous comments. PatrickTranslating
Thanks to the municipality for this lovely parking area, where you do not feel cramped unlike in many other places intended for motorhomes. Very close to the town center, with a reasonable price including electricity. Some traffic noise, but not disturbing for sleeping.Translating
Very nice, quiet and well-located area. The pitches are spacious. We would like to find more places like this. However, I am taking off one star because of the lack of bins. Ecology is good, but not at the cost of unnecessary complications.Translating
The only small drawback is the lack of bins on site. What exactly is the tourist tax for, since I take my rubbish with me? Otherwise, perfect.Translating
The site had been closed for the last few days because of a storm warning. We spent the night for free at the stadium in the huge parking lot. The disposal facilities at the pitch are freely accessible, and we used them.Translating
Totally flat aire and with large spaces close to the river Vendee. Pretty much no noise from the road so we slept really well. Walk along the river to visit this pretty old town; well worth a visit. Looks like EHU is included in the price but we did not need it. The is an extra payment if you need water. Could happily stay again.
Very nice motorhome area. Under the trees. Close to the town center. The old town of Fontenay is really worth visiting. Lovely walk from the motorhome area. Really excellent.Translating
Very spacious, located close to the town center. Traffic noise early in the morning. The price seems reasonable, but there is an extra charge to access the water, which is outside the area.Translating
I don't understand those who criticize it! Flat, clean area with water and electricity, green spaces, and a picnic table for €10.50. Honestly, people have to stop always finding fault with everything! Thanks to the municipality for this area.Translating
No water, but it's not a problem because I have a full tank; still, it is not normal that this has been going on so long. Some municipalities are taking us for fools, aren't they? A bit of asphalt and ground markings, then they charge you, while everything else is falling apart; maintenance is almost nonexistent. Otherwise, pleasant town and cycle paths next to the area. From a cash cow.Translating
Incredible: still no drinking water at 38 degrees, and don't even bother trying—the two euros are just wasted.Translating
Exorbitant price: €11.50 for services that are not available. No water, and no bins, or at least they are very complicated to use. I see no point in this area except that it is flat, on asphalt, and has electricity.Translating
Dissapointing that the potable water fault still exists, we paid for water yet we were no able have water despite paying for it. We phone the service number and left a message but without reply.
A quiet little spot.Translating
Very good for a stopover. Close to the town center and quiet at night despite being near the road.Translating
