A castle car park beside a busy road, with views over a field of sheep and no amenities. The machine offers a 4h ticket for 4£ or a 10£ ticket valid until 23:45, while a sign states that overnight parking is not permitted. Traffic is noticeable during the day but the area is usually very quiet at night.

Using the “+” button, the machine offers a 4-hour ticket for £4. Press “+” again and you get a £10 ticket. I bought that one and stayed overnight. It was not checked. However, the £10 ticket is only valid until 11:45 p.m. Beautiful place, very quiet at night, wonderful view, with only animals around. It would be nice if the £10 ticket were officially valid for 24 hours.
We were there for the Braemar Highland Games 2025. There was an official parking area without electricity for 60 pence and another one for 10 pence, which we found by chance right next to it!
Sign saying no overnight parking. Next to the main road, so there is some traffic noise.
Actually, it says “no overnight parking.” We arrived late and dared to stay.
Car park closed because the castle is closed for renovation work.
