Camping Hengifoss is a large, well-maintained campsite with grass and tarmac pitches, 6 km from the Hengifoss parking area, plus a hostel. It is useful for visiting Hengifoss and Laugarfell, but can become crowded with local visitors, especially at weekends. A stay for 2 adults and 2 children cost 42 €, while facilities include only one shower, one dishwashing sink, toilets, and limited services.

The site is well suited for visiting Hengifoss and Laugarfell. We have to note negatively that many locals use the site, so it gets crowded, especially at weekends. The sanitary facilities are inadequate for this. There is only one shower! €42 (2 adults, 2 children) per night for this lack of service is inappropriate.Translating
Avoid at all costs, theft. Reservation on site. You pay but there are no spaces. There is no staff at reception, just a machine. There is only one sink for washing dishes for the entire campsite—unbelievable. There were several of us, so we ended up staying in the car park. Shameful for the price.Translating
The campsite is already closed today, 30 September. We were allowed to stay, but there are no services anymore. Only the toilet would have been available until around 7 p.m.; everything was free. The guesthouse is still operating, however. Five stars because the site is very clean, offers many advantages, and the gentleman was very friendly and honest.Translating
The setting is pleasant, that's true, but as often happens, the services are limited, and moreover they are in an adjacent municipal building. The shower was in poor condition. Electricity is available only on gravel pitches. At 2,500 ISK per person, it is rather marginal.Translating
Spacious, very well-maintained, level campsite with grass and paved pitches. Friendly owner. Many electrical outlets. One shower and toilets in a seminar building. Registration at the café/restaurant next door. We spent a quiet night before departing by ferry. Wonderfully secluded from the hustle and bustle.Translating
Very large campground, busy with local holidaymakers in summer. Checkin at Café. Well-maintained meadow and facilities including an excellent shower (there is only one, but it's spacious and included in the price). Some pitches are a little sloping. Waste disposal somewhat hidden in the car park, fresh water is available from the washbasin in front of the house. Mobile phone reception ok.
The current price per person is 2,500 ISK.Translating
2000 ISK pp, No sign of reception when you arrive, only one shower, no place for cooking and doing the dishes, doesn’t look like a real campsite. Toilets were in a different building that was used for a wedding when we were there. 2 stars because the pitches are flat and WiFi.
Really very nice, the people in charge were extremely kind and the place was splendid. Spotlessly clean bathrooms, outdoor tables, and a large lawn. It is a shame there is no covered space for cooking with camping stoves in case of rain.Translating
Sorry to disagree with previous reviewers, but this is really not the best camping site around. In my view, five stars is heavily overrated. It lacks "naturality" (if that's a word). True, if you're looking for comfort and facilities, it's good. For nice, spacious (but more sober) spots, surrounded by nature and right next to the water, go to the south side of the lake for better alternatives.
Great place to stay. The camping is clean and well maintained. It's quite new. There is a shower, and they can do laundry for you for 1000kr. There are also two common rooms to stay and chill, one with TV and some books and boardgames. The owner is a great and kind guy! You can also book a room here and I think eat breakfast.
Very calm place, camping fee 2000 ISK, new clean and warm showers and toilets. Grill area, swings for kids. The owner was very kind and friendly. These is also a guesthouse next to it. We liked it so much we came back for another night.
2,000 ISK per person. The sanitary facilities are very new and clean. I was the only motorhome.Translating
