Camino de Santo Domingo de Silos, 09613, Contreras
Been here?
Spacious daytime parking beside the Sad Hill cemetery film location, surrounded by beautiful scenery and quiet natural surroundings. The access roads are steep, narrow and uneven in places, so vehicles should proceed slowly. Recent visitors report that overnight stays are prohibited and forest rangers warn people not to sleep there. The site is suitable for visiting and daytime parking only.

Some people still have not understood that in natural parks such as this one, Sabinares del Arlanza, overnight stays are NOT allowed. Spacious parking area, with room for several 7.5 m motorhomes without any problem.
You cannot sleep here; the forestry officers come to warn you that overnight stays are prohibited.
Super quiet and beautiful. There is hardly any internet, but you do have peace and quiet.
The holy grail. We respected the ban on overnight parking. But what an amazing place. In the village of Santo Domingo de Silos you can easily stay for one night. There are several good restaurants in the village.
The place is interesting and worth seeing, but what everyone here ignores is that overnight stays are not allowed! It is clearly stated, so it is not surprising that campers have such a bad reputation…
Excellent, we had the whole place to ourselves. An unusual spot, perfect.
It is not marked as a parking area, nor is it prohibited, but it appears as a parking area on Google. There are bins nearby in the villages of Contreras and Santo Domingo. The area is somewhat dirty because of people who do not understand that this is a natural environment… Perfect for spending the night with nobody around!
Hi! We arrived on Thursday afternoon after passing through the village of Contreras. Due to the rain, the parking area was full of puddles and muddy, but it was still a beautiful place and the road was good. After visiting the cemetery, which was very pretty, we had lunch in the parking area. We did not sleep there, but it looked promising. On Thursday morning we did the Imagination Trail in Hortigüela (with figures of the good, the ugly and the bad guy).
Sad Hill is of course absolutely incredible!!!! The car park in the middle of nowhere is good; the access road is terrible and very steep, although partly concrete.
We stayed here last night and it was wonderfully peaceful. Pitch black with billions of stars lighting the sky. 4G was working fine for us. A little bit messy in places with sandy mud but well worth a visit.
We spent a very peaceful night, together with another van. In the morning the forestry officers came by and said nothing to us. Incredible views.
The cemetery from the film "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". Very quiet at night, a popular destination during the day. Unfortunately, there are no toilets, so everyone should bring their own toilet. Those without one just go in the bushes… We were able to stay here for two days.
A car park in front of a place of worship from a great film—you do not get to do that every day. It is quiet, with some shaded spots. The access is just a dirt track, but it is accessible nonetheless.
Dirty spot. Human waste under every tree. Very busy. Impossible to spend a peaceful night. We visited the cemetery and then left to look for somewhere to sleep.
The place is absolutely wonderful, but there is rubbish and toilet paper under every tree or bush. We drove on to spend the night elsewhere.
