Sougaridi, 521 00, Kastoria
Been here?
Monastery parking beside Lake Kastoria, offering shade under lime trees, a beautiful view and generally quiet overnight stays. An overnight contribution to the church is requested, recently reported as 15 Euro, with water and toilets available. The lakeside road is used by pedestrians and cyclists, and the approach is narrow for large campers. Evenings can include fishermen and small groups, while Sunday morning services use loudspeakers.

We slept here and used our bicycles to visit Kastoria. Silence, shade, and a spectacular view. The road is also, and above all, used by pedestrians and cyclists, so it is best to take it counterclockwise. In the evening until midnight there are fishermen, small groups, and couples, but generally it is quiet. There is a water fountain. Visit the monastery and make a donation!
Dreamlike beautiful spot by the monastery, directly on the lake. Water tap available. €15.
I stayed two nights at the Pope’s place. He was not there to receive the church donation, so we went to the church but could not find him. We decided to leave a donation in the box inside the church. Good, quiet, safe place for visiting Kastoria. We also did the hiking route that starts above the toilets.
For 10€, which goes to the monastery, you can stay here overnight. There is a toilet and free water. Fantastic view and atmosphere and very quiet. Police drove by 2 times during the afternoon and evening.
Beautiful spot on Lake Kastoria. We did not have to pay the €10 contribution. It is somewhat busy during the day, but rather quiet at night. We did not encounter hobby tuners or loud music. On Sunday morning, the monastery next door broadcasts a Mass through loudspeakers, but it was not disturbing at all. We would come again.
Definitely not a quiet location, laying here at 1:30am with large groups of teens revving their cars, playing loud music and partying outside. Thursday night in July. Upside is that being near the water, it is a welcome respite from the heat in other places.
Beautiful spot. Nice caretaker. He welcomed us and collected the €10 for the church. I went fishing but still had no luck.
Big area around the monastery. there are two taps and toilets. Quiet at night with people arriving from 8am
Excellent location, but the road to get there is very narrow. Overnight stays are allowed if you ask the caretaker. Water is available, but beware of wasps. Very good little restaurant; try the trout seated by the river under the plane trees (leave the leftovers for the kittens).
Large campers cannot get here because the road is too narrow. A lot of traffic at night, with many amateur racers in tuned cars. Next door there is a disco or concert area, and there was partying all night.
Good place for exploring Kastoria. The monastery manager asks for €10 for one night. There is quite a lot of traffic during the day, but it is rather quiet at night. We parked here for two days.
Enchanting, cool, and peaceful place. Beautiful walk along the lake. Donation to the caretaker of the splendid, atmospheric church for the services.
