A wild lakeside spot 2 km from Mourão, where the old road to Évora ended before the Alqueva dam was built. It has spectacular views over the water and is beside Mourão’s river beach, with a quiet setting and good stargazing. The area is unlit, stray dogs may bark at night, and parts of the dirt road can become slippery or inaccessible when the reservoir is full.

Park with a spectacular view of the water, right next to Mourão’s river beach. Quiet.
The police sent us away from the castle parking area and said it was allowed here. We had a quiet night, apart from barking dogs. In the morning, cows and sheep passed us on their way to the pasture. The water came almost up to the sign.
