Glacier trail parking, narrow access

The camping site is cca 150 m before the sign on the map, right where the toilets are.

Beautiful parking place in the middle of nature with a view of Austerdalsbreen. A building with three dry toilets is available; there is also a stream. The drive there is an adventure in itself: about 30 km of single-track road with passing places. Excellent starting point for the approximately four-hour hike to Austerdalsbreen. We had visits from cows in the evening and during the night.✦Translating

15/10 Without a doubt the best sleeping place ever. The view is phenomenal, and the hike is too. It is fantastic how close you can get to the ice! The path is muddy in places and you have to jump over stones here and there. There are also three dry toilets—what more could you want! The hut is not always open, but otherwise you can also eat or sleep there.✦Translating

Quiet parking area and starting point for hikes to the glaciers. The access road is indeed long and not very wide in places. It is a dead end, so you have to come here deliberately. 70 NOK for the day plus 70 NOK for the night; at that price, you might as well spend the night. After the hike to the glacier, we almost simply drove away again. Luckily, we decided to stay the night after all. The atmosphere in the valley is unique, especially in the evening when the sun sets behind the glacier. A highlight of our trip.✦Translating

Amazing view. Easy hike to the glacier during the day, easy night at the glacier river. Space as much as you like. There were 11 campers on a 1.5km stretch, so, enough space for everyone ;) Toilets available, very clean. Trash container available. Btw, the trail is well maintained! So the just 70NOK are well invested.

Five stars for the beautiful surroundings, which are certainly worth 70 NOK. However, the parking area is not worth the additional 70 NOK for an overnight stay. No toilets, no water, only a few tightly parked neighbours. There are better overnight options down by the lake. Recommended for a day hike, though.✦Translating

Breathtaking place with a magnificent view! You can spread out more or less wherever you like on a large meadow or field. The road toll of 70 NOK is absolutely reasonable. Be aware of poor mobile reception, although you do not really need it in this pristine nature. The gravel road is manageable even with a motorhome.✦Translating

Brilliant option both to spend one or 2 nights in a picturesque location, and to access the glacier. Two hikes start from this point. We did the easy one in 4 hours return with 2 kids to get to the glacier, which falls into a lake. Very rewarding hike! I also recommend to visit the beautiful and cosy cabin. They welcome visitors for coffees, lunch or drinks. You can also pay to have a shower

Very beautiful place! Starting point for the hike to Austerdalsbreen! The drive here was challenging because it is very narrow and mostly single-track. In oncoming traffic, you or the other vehicle must reverse. The last kilometres are gravel, and the 70 NOK fee for the final section must be paid in cash in an envelope or by card at the toll booth.✦Translating
